Lauer/Bush on Today show: Pretty tense
Today show

Posted on 09/11/2006 9:07:21 AM PDT by quesney

Did anyone else see the exchange between President Bush and the Today show's Matt Lauer this morning on the Today show?

I tuned in near the end, and it looked pretty intense. Lauer was a very aggressive in his hand gestures, repeatedly pointing a stern finger into the president's chest. Almost looked like it would turn physical. Would appreciate a link to any online video.

Almost looked like it would turn physical.

Oh, if only.

Just to add: Matt Lauer seemed downright rude. I felt offended that he was getting "physical" with the president in that way.

Why would Bush appear on that show today?

Bush is prolly 15 yrs Lauer's elder, and Bush would easily kick his a$$.

I didn't watch it, but apparently Brian Williams got a little too up close and personal too a few weeks ago when he was interviewing Bush about Katrina, so I guess this is turning into a trend.

In a perfect world Matt would have been handed his ass on live television.

God ... if only we could ditch civility for 30 seconds today.

Lauer is an a$$, haven't watched him in years. Sad to see that there is no longer a respect for the office of the Presidency, Clintoon sure saw to that.

I'd like 3 minutes alone with that liberal turd-polisher, Lauer, in a locked room. He'd come out an entirely different chump.

It's partly W's fault. He should know by now not to play nice with these guys.

I've seen Lauer every so often lately and it's quite obvious his Bush hatred has overtaken any sense of news he may have had.

Everything he says is put through the prism of how much he hates Bush. Bush should never have given him an interview.

Oh, the president was quite aggressive with his hand gestures in response. He held his own, but he shouldnt have had to. I couldnt believe Lauer was being so disrespectful to the president in the Oval Office. My take anyway, but interested in knowing if anyone else had the same reaction. Aggressive questioning, no problem, but the guy was more than that -- repeatedly, and very rudely, sticking his hands in the president's face and chest. My immediate reaction was: Who the hell does this guy think he is?

I watched it. My husband and I thought it was pretty disgusting how the president had to explain things to Lauer as if Matt was a 9 year old. To us, Lauer looked like a complete idiot and it's truly scary that too many in America are just like him.

It doesn't surprise me. I've never watched that show and doubt I ever will. W shouldn't give those useless yokels the time of day.
