When I heard that Mahsoud was called the Lion of Afghanistan, I flashed briefly to Narnia... :)

VERY true. That's one of my pet peeves is Monday Morning Quarterbacking. The media and the Democrats are masters at looking back at something years ago, and blaming conservatives for not seeing it coming, as though the media or Democrats knew about it then too. Well if they're so stinking smart, how come they NEVER warn about things before they happen? There sure as heck weren't any liberals or media hacks warning about a big terrorist attack in 2001. I HATE Monday Morning Quarterbacking. Hindsight isn't worth squat when it comes to problem solving.

And much as I hate to say it, America had gotten really soft since the cold war ended, and before then too to an extent. Too many spoiled rotten Americans who interrited the most luxurious country on Earth ever, and didn't have to earn or create it, just enjoy it. That made us BIG TIME vulnerable because of that mindset among so many millions of Americans. A young somewhat naive "know it all" 18 year old and politically moderate acquaintance of mine several yars ago would really irk me when he would say how spoiled most Americans are. Well, I don't believe it's most, but there are many. I hate that fact. But it's true. If we ever have this war turn into a war that 75% or more of the country has to be strong and tough and cowboy up to the bar and fight hard to save the country, quite frankly, I think we're toast. I don't think even 25% of the ideological left of this country has the spine or genetic ability to step up to the plate and fight the hard fight to save this country. They'd just crawl into a hollow little log and die. That's the nature of the left. FRIKKEN WEAK GUTLESS WONDERS!!! Enjoy freedom they didn't earn, deny it to others because it's too hard to speread it, and then not life a finger defenfing it, attacking their countrymen who do defend it, making themselves vulnerable to the enemy that will kill them and that the enemy will not care that the weak liberals oppose the strong among them. Liberals are like an animal that reproduces asexually, but has forgotten how. It's amazing and scary at the same time.

You DEFINITELY hit on a REALLY good point and got me thinking.

Oh Yaelle, I'm so sorry. My prayers...

A long-time friend in Boston knew someone on each plane out of Logan.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was peeved by the grading. The Commission's little grades were so patronizing and insulting. They haven't done a stinking thing to try and make the country safer, just wag their finger, give Clinton a public pass, and tell the country how safe Bush is NOT making us. Pathway to 9-11 is a FULL accounting of their report, not allowing them to blast Bush and let CLinton get off scott publicly like they always try to. I can't say you'll enjoy the second part, but it was well done. It's impossible to "enjoy" this movie. It was well made and very tasteful I think. VERY respectful to those who died I think.

To add: Thank God for her, in so many ways. She helped ATC understand what was happening.

I couldn't believe an "f" for airline security! Sheesh, the only thing we haven't done is profiling... can't have that, can we?

The grading was pathetic. Much of the 9-11 work was done by the staff not the commissioners. Much of what should have or could have been accomplished by the commission was delegated to the staff who blew it.

I agree on all counts. Massoui is really the much underrecognized tragedy that signalled 9-11. One man can make a difference. Had he lived through to our invasion of Afghanistan, he would have made a HUGE difference fighting with us to destroy the Taliban and Al Qaeda, just like he fought with us against the Soviets. A good man. Involved with the Opium trade and all that, yet, but he NEVER supported ANY acts of hostility against America, he respected us, and was truly grateful for our help against the Soviets in arming and supplying him and the REAL Mujahadeen, not the radical arab trash that came into Afghanistan and hijacked the Afghani Mujahadeen. He was the first casualty of 9-11. And ironically, if that line from him is any kind of accurate, he had a great understanding and respect for Reagan. that's ironic too.

The movie was very believable and credible even with the editing, compression and compilations. It was advertised as a docudrama and that's exactly what it was. The wall that Gorelick put up was very obvious and evident in the way the story unfolded. The dots could not be connected as they should have been and even with what was known they could not get anyone to approve any strong reaction from us. More consideration was given to not ticking off foreight countries that the defense of our country.

We need to adopt what the Israeli's do for airline security and passenger screening.

Yeah, privacy privacy privacy. Old and simplistic retort I know but true. What good is privacy if you're dead? Not much I don't think. And frankly, so long as our Constitution is intact, which it ALWAYS has been under Republican President's anyway, I am NOT concerend about the government infringing on my privacy if they're doing so to protect the country from an enemy. If it's peace time with no clear hostile enemy, maybe I'd be ruffled a bit, but with those terrorists, heck. I value my life and the lives of my wife and family more then some fictionally perceived Constitutional right to privacy despite the desire to protect and defend the country. It's that simple. Privacy is meaningless if the people and the country are dead.

Their mindset (liberals) reminds me of the fellow in "Die Hard". He fancies himself the negotiator to end all negotiators, and offers himself as a "hostage" to try to get McCain to surrender. Much to his surprise, after he gives his soggy, sob-y little speech imploring McCain to give himself up to the "terrorists" and McCain refuses, the "terrorists" shoot him.

It was a real fine example of how appeasement/liberalism don't work.

The wall was alluded to in the scene with O'Neill with his guys and the CIA guys and the CIA shows him pictures of some of the terrorists but won't tell them any names, and when pressed, he says he doesn't have the authority to do that. The guys kinda a jerk too. The whole briefcase thing is a crock. That's something just about anyone would have done in that situation. Phone call, loud room, busy, and forgot to take a briefcase with him. When you're not used to always carrying things with you, most peple don't think of that when something like that comes up suddenly. I understand rules but O'Neill is still human and was too great an asset for that to have mattered as much as it did. He was not done fairly, and as much as he did for this country, that's a crime.

She sure got them out of Vinny's office fast enough after he was "suicided". Just my opinion. Sure are a lot of people that have a bad habit of dying around the Clintons though. They're worse then a frikken ladder with built in broken mirror and black cat on a track.

Really they did a halfa** job of it. They made it look more like the CIA was just a bunch of jerks who refused to share intel and they could have. Rather then the fact they were barred from it and it would get them fired if they shared with the FBI, which was the real truth.

Yeah I remember that briefing report and when it broke in 03 as part of the Commission investigation the media and Democrats tried desperately to make it look like Bush and Rice had specific information that detailed an attack on America using hijacked planes to ram into buildings, but the threat assesment wasn't that specific, only saying that planes might be used, hijacked and crashed into the ground, or something like that, nothing specific and nothing about buildings. Very vague and not actionable, other then if Bush gounded all planes with no valid reason other than a vague report like that.

While it would have delayed 9-11, the pre-9-11 media and Democrat party would have had Bush's head on a pike if he'd of stopped all air travel in the U.S. based on a vague threat assessment stating that planes might be hijacked and used in some way in the coming days, no day or place specifically stated. The Democrats would have been demanding he be impeached for incompetence or SOMETHING like that. I can just see it. And then when flights resumed, the attacks would have still happened, and just been called 9-21 attacks, though Bush would have looked like a fortune telling genius and no one would call him a fear monger ever. But the pre-9-11 mindset would NEVER allow an administration to just ground air travel on a vague threat assessment that's not much more than saying what could happen at some point, and no who, what, where, or when. You can't just ground ALL air travel in the U.S. based on a one page threat assessment that mentioned airliners possibly being hijacked for unknown ends, with other things above and below it that could have been just as important.

The media and the Democrats tried so hard to hang Bush and Rice with that document. And like all other things it didn't work because it was bogus and for it to have any meaning, one would have to assume that Bush and Rice had knowledge of the 9-11 style of attacks on 9-08. Sure the freak lib fringe thinks they did, but in the real world, people who know X-Files was a tv show, not secret case file documentation, know that's not true.
