There they go again.
No sooner had Keith Ellison been declared the winner in the DFL primary and Minneapolis' likely next member of Congress than Republicans launched a smear campaign intended not only to smudge Ellison but, by association, every Democrat on the DFL ticket.
Here are some of the words, delivered with ample emotion, that came from the mouth of Ellison's Republican opponent, words unlikely to have originated in Alan Fine's heart but more likely crafted by some young Beltway piranha typing away on behalf of Karl Rove's dark national machine:

Why? Why? Why?
Is there anyone out there who has any doubts as to which political party will garner the majority of the Red Star's coveted "editorial endorsements" this fall?
Everyone, we need to fight this. Give to Mark Kennedy. Give to Michele Bachman in the 6th District. The Dems are only cranking up their machine as we speak.
Opinions or comments - anyone?
Smear tactics in politics? Who'd a thunk it?
Minnesota PING List!
Let me know if you want on or off!
What this article doesn't spell out is whether or not Keith Ellison actually is a follower of Louis Farrakan (sp). If this is the case, then people should stand warned - hatred of everything white goes with the territory.
Liberals and their media just realized that the Republican campaign is showing the American people who are Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, etc and the liberals are scared to death of this.
I have no idea why you contine to read the Red Star. I gave up on both papers years ago.
I'm in the 6th district and Patty Wetterling has started early with getting her signs out all over the place. I believe Bachman will win but it will be close. I have heard Wetterling has refused to debate Bachman - more than likely because she's not that bright.
"I read that Ellison has former ties with Calypso Louie."
Oh yes indeedy. He was a card carrying member of the bowtie brigage, but he realized the "confused error of his ways" and also, ALSO said he was.........sorry!
That's enough, right? rofl.
Against my better judgement I went and read the whole editorial.
Note to self -- "Trust your judgement!!!"
After over six years of constantly bashing President Bush and Republicans, they are hardly in a position to complain today. If they are fearful of name calling perhaps they need to direct their ire towards the Democrats.
Tell ya what, Democrats.
When you stop lying about us, we'll stop telling the truth about you.
The editorial staff knows that this tactic may work, and they are scared to death. It's great for Dems to say that all Pubbies are represented by David Duke or Pat Robertson, but Pubbies shouldn't be allowed to do the same back to Dems. Typical liberal double-standard. This could be fun. Watch the Dems squeal like stuck pigs. I just hope the tactic works. Expose the TRUTH about who the Dems nominate and support.
Powerline did yeoman's work in exposing who Keith Ellison really is.
Unfortunately, that blog isn't well-read among the fellow traveller/useful idiots who voted in the Dem primary a few days ago.
Funny, but nowhere in Alan Fine's comments did I see a smear on Ellison's religion. Not once was the word 'muslim' uttered.
New Tagline alert! Thanks.
PING me!
