US Army: AP Photographer Captured with Al Qaeda Leader
Little Green Footballs ^ | September 17, 2006 | Charles Johnson

Posted on 09/17/2006 4:18:32 PM PDT by ikez78

Arrested Pulitzer Prize winning Associated Press photographer Bilal Hussein, who took the infamous pictures of a terrorist execution on Haifa Street in Baghdad, and is notorious in the blogosphere for his collusion with jihadis as they tried to kill Americans, is the subject of a very lengthy attempt by the AP to whitewash his acts: U.S. holds AP photographer in Iraq 5 mos. (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin.)

The AP spins furiously and buries it in the middle, but here’s some interesting information from the US Army:

The military said Hussein was captured with two insurgents, including Hamid Hamad Motib, an alleged leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. “He has close relationships with persons known to be responsible for kidnappings, smuggling, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and other attacks on coalition forces,” according to a May 7 e-mail from U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jack Gardner, who oversees all coalition detainees in Iraq.

“The information available establishes that he has relationships with insurgents and is afforded access to insurgent activities outside the normal scope afforded to journalists conducting legitimate activities,” Gardner wrote to AP International Editor John Daniszewski.

Hussein proclaims his innocence, according to his Iraqi lawyer, Badie Arief Izzat, and believes he has been unfairly targeted because his photos from Ramadi and Fallujah were deemed unwelcome by the coalition forces.

That Hussein was captured at the same time as insurgents doesn’t make him one of them, said Kathleen Carroll, AP’s executive editor. “Journalists have always had relationships with people that others might find unsavory,” she said. “We’re not in this to choose sides, we’re to report what’s going on from all sides.”

Notice: the Associated Press received this information from the Army four months ago in May, but did not reveal it until now.

UPDATE at 9/17/06 10:14:22 am:

Correction: I’ve just received an email from the Associated Press (that was quick) saying that Bilal Hussein did not take the photos of the execution on Haifa Street. (They didn’t dispute anything else in my post.)

“Journalists have always had relationships with people that others might find unsavory,” she said. “We’re not in this to choose sides, we’re to report what’s going on from all sides.”

Baloney.

Walter Duranty chose the side of Uncle Joe Stalin. Not only did he not report the Ukrainian holocaust of 1932-3, he denied it. Journalists rewarded him and the New York Times with a Pulitzer prize. Recently the Ukraine asked the NYTs to turn that prize back, but they have not done so.

My newspaper takes sides on every front page. But maybe I should say take take side, rather than sides. They are 100% consistent. They are liberal, not conservative.

I cannot count on the AP to take the American side, or even the side of objective journalism. I can believe they would knowingly hire someone whose allegiance was with Jihadists who want to kill me and my family.

“We’re not in this to choose sides, we’re to report what’s going on from all sides.”

That sounds like a noble objective. When are they planning on starting to report some of the good news from our side?

MSM ENEMEDIA Ping!

We’re not in this to choose sides, we’re to report what’s going on from all sides.”

IF that statement were even half true, I might be able to accept that...BUT...they don't report all sides. Far from it. The ENEMEDIA reports bad news, half-truths, and lies. We don't ever hear about the successes, the good news, the progress being made, or the benefits of a liberated Iraq. They will go out of their way to interview the Anti-America and freedom haters, but we NEVER hear the other side.

The ENEMEDIA is an ally of the terrorists and they should NEVER be called "main stream" again!

Well said. The problem is there are so many clueless folks out there who believe what they write. I guess it boils down to more than one category of reader. Amongst them, there are the truly stupid who simply go with what they are told; those who are simply too trusting and have become used to absorbing the drips they are fed by the media they recognize; and those who actually want to believe the lies, knowing they are lies, because it suits their agenda.

I hope the message gets thru to the first two groups at the very least.

I certainly hope that Bilal Hussein hates the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and that he can't handle the cold. He can propably spill the beans on all of his social contacts.

On second thought, send him to a real prison for terrorists - Abu Gharib will do!

Now back under Iraqi management. Somehow I suspect that play time is over. So sad.

On Bilal Hussein, he has participated in many terrorist attacks and crimed of violence. Here are some pictures of a murder, where the murderers are clearly cooperating with Hussein, and his criminally immoral enablers at AP, to get their message out. WARNING: Graphic and gruesome. This page has a number of pics from Iraq, but the first six pictures are of the dead body of civilian Salvatore Santoro, an Italian citizen, and of his murderers.

http://iraq-kill-maim.org/ik25/iraq-kill25.htm

The Associated Press murdered Santoro. The insurgents would not have killed him unless they were assured of good press. Thanks to AP and its pro-insurgent policies, they were.

By the way, Hussein's other job was providing cell phones to the insurgents for IED detonators. AP knows this but hey, he gets them good graphic pictures of murder victims, thanks to being one of the murderers.

You aren't going to believe this one. A young NCO that I have been mentoring informed me that his unit recently had an embed -- Peter "Baby Milk" Arnett.

For young FReepers, who may not remember Arnett, he was famous for fabricated Vietnam atrocity stories (he is responsible for the line "we had to destroy the village in order to save it." Of two officers he has attributed that to in different times, one denies saying it, and the other denies ever meeting him!)

Then Peetah went to CNN when it started. He was part of their war coverage and during Gulf War I was their "star" reporter, reporting from inside Iraq under the direction of Saddam's propaganda ministry. During this period he posted a report saying that the USA attacked not a chemical plant, but a "baby milk factory," and had the proof: a hand painted sign saying "baby milk factory" in the rubble. In English!

He lost his job at CNN after running a completely fabricated report that claimed that US SF used nerve gas to kill American POWs behind the lines in Vietnam. Now, if you think about that, the reasoning there is so convoluted it makes your hair hurt. AFTER the story ran, CNN fired the two fabricating producers, Jack Smith and April Oliver, and let Peetahs contract run out without ever sticking him in front of a camera again.

So here's this gung-ho young soldier telling me that Peetah showed up at his unit, and wondering what the report would be like (I have no idea who would hire Peetah... AP maybe). This young infantryman was probably 14 when Arnett got fired and just a kid when he first became a laughingstock over the "baby milk" thing. So he doesn't know he and his unit are about to star in some phony atrocity story.

Who coined that term Enemedia? I like it. It's accurate referring to people like Arnett and Hussein and his enablers like Connolly at AP.

Ernie Pyle, though, lives. His name is Michael Yon in this century.

“We’re not in this to choose sides, we’re to report what’s going on from all sides.”

I think the only problem we have is when the AP is in the area to report on one side to the other. When their articles intent clearly is to make the Americans look as bad as possible, it is pretty clear which side they are on. But as most of the press agency's are now owned by Saudi Arabia, one could guess their motivations from other means than reading their "stories".

We have given our enemies a great advantage against us, all for the love of money.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The media is AGAINST tapping the lines of Al Qaeda figures in communication with Americans because the media is IN BED with Al Qaeda.

Try them for treason and then hang them.

If they want to be "neutral", they can move to some neutral territory, become citizens there, and report on the war as neutral journalists. From my perspective, they are decidedly PRO-terrorist.

Would they embed with the KKK and then keep quiet if they were to learn of a planned church bombing or lynching?

They are completly without morals if they do.

Peter Jennings and Mike Wallace support such a journalistic ideal...
