Makes you wonder who will win the contract to supply the California Highway Patrol and other state vehicles.

1. Segway

2. Horse farms.

Perhaps it's time for those car makers to stop doing business in California. i.e. close their dealerships, no advertising, no "special" California equipment, etc., no sales of fleet equipment to government agencies. There comes a point when even a large market is more costly than it is worth -- in my business, we had a few -- we called them unacceptable customers. They were more hassel than they were worth.

BTW. I'd bet you would see California back down at warp speed.

if the federal EPA had been reformed, they would have moved long ago to strip CARB being able to regulate auto emissions - there should be one federal standard for all 50 states, and that's it.

Well, we still aren't sure, but word is that it's come down to a three-way horserace between Schwinn, Raleigh, and Specialized.

the Governor of California does not have the authority to stop any such action by the California Department of Justice

The Governor is the one that signed the original law last year and is about to sign two more that are even more destructive to California's economy. As such, the question of authority is moot as he is a willing participant in this scheme.

Where does the Gub stand on any number of environmental issues?

Visit his web site and see for yourself where he stands on the environment and what he has been supportive of.

No statement is up regarding this latest AG action, yet. I would expect one to be forthcoming soon enough.

I actually look at this as a good thing.

Once and for all the myth of human-caused global warming can be debunked. The auto company lawyers can present all the facts and statistics to prove it.

Al Gore will have to shutup. The enviro-weenies will have to find another issue to whine about. Thousands of useless idiots who have dedicated their lives to this non-issue will have to find productive jobs.

Even admitting that global warming is occurring, the human contribution is some incredibly tiny amount. The automobile's contribution is a fraction of that amount. The state of California is a small fraction of the Earth itself. So perhaps a jury could award California the princely sum of .00001 cents per automobile produced to cover the automobile manufacturer contribution to California's global warming problems.

Of course, this scenario depends on the presiding judge not laughing the case out of court, so the probability of it actually occurring is miniscule.

This is one reason that California should get rid of their liberal elected politicians.

I wonder if this guy is riding a bicycle to go to work o could he be walking?

Then you have this guy Angel somebody trying to unseat the Governor blaming the Governor because of his support on Bush and the high price of gas......

Not really. It looks like they already judge-shopped by filing the federal suit in the Northern District. Odds of a moonbat judge there are pretty good, and the odds of the 9th Circus upholding it are also pretty good. And the Supreme Court still isn't a slam dunk for us, although it's tilted our way.

The best thing would be for the defendants to demand a jury trial if they are assigned a liberal judge, but with jury comprised of folks in the San Francisco area, it's likely to be Nancy Pelosi clones.
