THREE Indonesian Christians who were on death row for inciting violence against Muslims in 2000 were executed by firing squad, their lawyer said.
"They have been executed....," lawyer Roy Rening said.
Mr Rening said he was informed of the executions by the prosecutors office in Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi province....

Mr Rening added that he refused to be present at the deaths to protest a rejection by the state of their last demands, including that their bodies be laid in wake at Palu's main Catholic church.

The trio were initially scheduled to be shot last month but authorities granted a last-minute reprieve - even following the preparation of their coffins - shortly after Pope Benedict XVI issued a plea for clemency, though a link was denied.
After the executions, spokesman Federico Lombardi said the Vatican was saddened by the "painful" news.
The case of the trio has raised fears of sectarian violence flaring again in Central Sulawesi, where more than 1000 people lost their lives in 2000-01 as Muslims and Christians clashed.

The case of the three poor farmers drew international concern from rights activists, who criticised the fairness of their trial and saw the men as scapegoats .....
On Thursday, the men had met for the last time with their relatives, their priest and their lawyer, Mr Rening.
"They should just do the execution and return their bodies to the family... This is a new crime, and I protest this attitude," Mr Rening said.
Christian leaders had urged their faithful to stay calm and refrain from any violence ...
The executions were carried out just a few days ahead of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting which is expected to begin this weekend.

Lets see what kind of play this gets in the MSM.
God Bless them...3 new martyrs.....The Muzzies are totally uncivilized.
Well, so far I've seen them referred to as "Christian militants" in the press. They might have been involved in the riots (which, btw, were in response to horrible treatment the Christians have been receiving from the Muslims there) but nobody seems to believe in any way that they were the masterminds and I doubt that they were even "militants." But of course since they weren't allowed to do things like present evidence, etc., nobody will every know. In any case, the testimony of a kaffir isn't fully acceptable in an Islamic court.
Prayers sent
Nope, no religious war going on here folks. Lets all just move along.
And on it goes...
God is with these true martyrs and they are in a place where they cannot feel pain or sorrow anymore. I feel sorry for those that murder and violate the laws of the true God. They have no idea what faces them for ETERNITY. And it isn't some sensual place with perpetual virgins. It is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the living God.
INDONESIA: 3 Christians on death row are to be executed on Friday 22nd September.
After their execution was stayed last month by the Attorney General for Central Sulawesi, Mohammad Yahya Sibe, he was suddenly replaced. He was the one who had to give the order for the executions to proceed. The Chief of Police was also suddenly replaced and sent to another department. Now, the appeal for these men that should have lasted months or even a year to process has been denied within one month. The execution is scheduled to take place on Friday 22nd September, 2006.
Jeremy Sewall, ICC Policy Analyst, said, "The Indonesian government is sacrificing true justice to provide judicial 'balance' by executing these three Christians to appease Muslims who are upset that three Islamic terrorists are also set to be executed for their part in the Bali bombings. This is not justice. This is deception, cover-up, and appeasement."
Tibo, Riwu, and Da Silva, all Christian, were the only men charged in the Poso conflict, even though the conflict started in 1998 and went till 2003. This is a glaring injustice and hints of massive cover-up by the Indonesian government. ICC has personally investigated the Poso conflict. Entire Christian villages were attacked with government munitions and burned down using Indonesian government fuel trucks. Christian adults and children were beheaded. The Muslim community initiated the attacks and there was every indication that local Muslim government leaders were involved. No Muslims were ever charged in any of the attacks.
Please pray with us for these 3 men and their families in this desperate situation.
This is so sad.Prayers for all. Thanks for the ping Hydroshock.
Tibo, da Silva and Riwu were convicted of leading a Christian militia that carried out attacks against Muslims in the province, but they categorically denied they were the masterminds behind the unrest.
Changes the entire complexion of the executions, if true; if not, then it makes them totally heinous.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.
And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory - and I'll know He lives.
we have all the weapons and no will to use them, they have practically no weapons but 1000x more will to use what they have against us. this war is going to happen anyway, we need to knuckle up and fight it!
You see ... nobody was "forced to convert," they either convert of their own free will or they are beheaded.
Applegate, got a spare $10,000? Deal valid for a short time only:
You are absolutely right on. What is endangering us is the wishy-washy way things are being handled. Come on Bush, get a grip and keep coming out publicly and FIGHT.
Imagine that......

No doubt about it. Either we do it, or our children will. One or the other will have to step up.
