Read more closely the context of the conversation. The "package" remark seems to be in response to the "boxers" comment, a 22 second gap. Actually Foley says "good" 8 seconds before the package remark, so he would have typed it in 8 seconds, not 5, since the package remark is not in response to "lol" at 37 seconds. I tested myself three different times typing "shows your package then" and timed it at 4 seconds, 3 seconds, and 5 seconds. So it's possible.

The one second transition with "lol" does not seem unreasonable. I don't think that's impossible. I typed it several different times and it took under .5 seconds each time. But I don't know how accurate the timestamps are on AOL Instant Messenger servers, anyway.

That's a stretch. It's easy to get off a "lol" in a second, looking through my own past IMs I see that's happened many times.

As for the five second transition, notice that is a continuation of "good" (8 seconds earlier), not a response to what the teenager said 5 seconds earlier, which was just a "lol".

" . . .If the name of the new nominee is submitted after the certification of results of the preceding primary election, however, the ballots shall not be changed and the former party nominee's name will appear on the ballot. Any ballots cast for the former party nominee will be counted for the person designated by the political party to replace the former party nominee... '

The only people who won't be informed as to a replacement candidate will be those who vote straight party ticket and don't care. Their GOP votes will go for the replacement. The Independents will be fully informed of what is going on and those who are conservative will vote for the replacement.

I see no great threat to the seat If The GOP Moves Quickly And Replaces Him This Weekend.

Hey guys...remember on the other thread we were told not to rush to judgement about Rep Foley, not throw him under a bus, he hadn't done anything wrong, etc? Y'all get your apologies yet?

From the ABC report:

"This all came to a head in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, we asked the congressman about some much tamer e-mails from one page, and he said he was just being overly friendly. After we posted that story online, we began to hear from a number of other pages who sent these much more explicit, instant messages. When the congressman realized we had them, he resigned."

So..we are suppose to believe that all of these former pages (in college by now I suppose) just happen to read the report last night about the other email and started sending ABC the sexual messages dating back to 2003?!!

Okay, then, what about typing two separate lines of text and having them both appear at EXACTLY 7:39:32?

Here ya go:

The 7:39:32 in my post above is from the same session. How can one explain that? You try doing that. It can't be done.

Guys, he resigned. That ends his involvement in holding the house. The details of what he did and if it's bogus or not can be addressed in the context of his fair trial and all that sort of thing AFTER WE HOLD THE SEAT. The GOP needs a replacement candidate THIS WEEKEND.

When someone's Internet connection is being bogged down, or when the AIM server has a hiccup, there can be a delay in messages that causes them to be received at the same time. That's not a particularly uncommon occurrence either. I don't think much can be proven examining AIM timestamps.

Scary but true what you said. Although one of the Kennedy boys did have a thing with the babysitter who was underage. It was the one who died in the ski accident later.

It's not like Foley is typing well anyway.. I mean he spelled "that" "taht". It's certainly possible to type extremely quickly on AIM and have the server "lag" (or overload) where messages are submitted in bulk at the same time rather than when they were actually typed. But that's just speculation on my part.

I tried just now to recreate that exchange on AIM and couldn't get it down to the same second. I got 2 second gaps twice and a one-second game once.

Read number 690 and number 693. There is a technical explanation.

I agree and have to admit that it is giving me the creeps that I might come off like I am defending this scum.....lol
My angle is that there are some nefarious characters behind these PM's dating back to 2003!

But...

Did you type 2 words before pressing enter and then type 4 words before pressing enter again?

Or did you use single words or two words each time?

This is important stuff. Important distinctions. Any recreation has to be similar to the original.

I'm not saying Foley isn't guilty, but he's probably not guilty guilty.

Yea, I just typed exactly what Foley wrote. But I think the more likely explanation is "lag" on the AIM servers, which is an extremely common occurance in my experience.

How does this work now? Does the Governor just appoint someone, or will there be a special election? Or a name as a write in on the ballot or what? What are the chances that a Rat might pick up this seat? Uuuggh!
