FOX MOVIE: 'BUSH MAY DRINK BLOOD OF EVERY MAN, WOMAN, CHILD IN IRAQ'

All systems go for controversy, and the release of FOX fuss film 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan' -- a film which features a comic announcing to an outraged Virginia rodeo: 'May George W. Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq!'

VARIETY calls the film, set for wide release November 3rd, "uproariously funny."

Borat Sagdiyev, Kazakhstan's leading journalist from the State run TV network, travels from his home in Kazakhstan to the U.S. to make a documentary. On his cross-country road-trip, Borat meets real people in real situations with hysterical consequences.

"'Borat' should make abundant B.O. benefit for FOX," predicts the trade.

NEWSCORPFOX chairman Rupert Murdoch is said to be 100% supportive of the mockumentary, a top source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.

But it is a scene filmed last winter in Virginia, at a rodeo in Roanoke, that is raising spurs.

Comic Sacha Cohen, impersonating a Middle Eastern man in an American flag shirt and a cowboy hat, took to the stage to sing the national anthem at the Salem Civic Center.

Introduced as Borat Sagdiyev from Kazakhstan, he was said to be an immigrant touring America. A film crew was with him, doing some sort of documentary. And he wanted to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" to show his appreciation, the announcer told the crowd.

"I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards!" he told the audience.

An uneasy murmur ran through the crowd, unaware it was a set up.

"And may George W. Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq!" he continued.

Then the man took off his hat and sang a butchered version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that ended with the words "your home in the grave," The ROANOKE TIMES reported.

By then, a restless crowd had turned downright nasty.

"If he had been out there a minute longer, I think somebody would have shot him," said one witness. "People were booing him, flipping him off."

"It's a wonder one of these cowboys didn't go out there and rope him up."

Last week outside of the White House, Secret Service agents turned away Cohen, in character as the boorish, anti-Semitic journalist, when he tried to invite "Premier George Walter Bush" to a screening of the upcoming film.

Cohen's "Borat" comedy routine has drawn legal threats from the Kazakh government, which keeps a tight lid on criticism in its news media.

"...George Bernard Shaw put it better than I could: "Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."..."

Wormwood, I will preface this with the disclosure that I am no fan of George Bernard Shaw, who is revered by the literary world for his cutting wit and turn of phrase, but that quote is simply silly, in my opinion.

I know some people find humor in nearly everything. But that doesn't mean that everything is socially open to comedians, nor should it be. Just my opinion, not directed at you personally, I just detest George Bernard Shaw and I disagree with his basic assertion.

For example, I'm sure some people (maybe even Mr. Shaw) would find humor somewhere in the concept of a person leaping to their death from the top of the World Trade Center, but I cannot. All I can imagine is that someone like Mr. Shaw could say it with a straight face because he spent all his time writing plays, books, essays and shilling for socialism, and never had to see people die in horrible, unjust and unpleasant ways.

I see a moral equivalency in that statement, comparing death and comedy. And I dislike moral equivalency. Again, this is not directed at you, I simply think the quote itself is idiotic.

You freaked out, and that's exactly what his type of comedy is all about.

Bull, attacking our values and what my son is fighting for is crap, not comedy.

What is wrong with people today?

We're not supposed to screw with civilians far far away from the war during a time of war?! That doesn't make a damn bit of sense, might as well just out law all comedy. Funny is funny and Borat is funny. One of the true signs of excellent humor is that it can't be described, the descriptions of what Borat does just don't convey it.

"Well I can understand if many people were offended by the one scene, but its not the basis for the entire film."

Yes, I was offended by the flag and the mis-singing of the Star Spangled Banner song, but I have to admit I laughed at most of it.
I wanted to hate it, but actually enjoyed the clip on the whole.
He seems like an equal opportunity offender and that to me makes it funny. I'll probably watch it.

Ok, some people might be confusing me with the people who are actually saying that this particular routine in the rodeo is funny. I said no such thing. I am explaining Cohen's act for those who may not know. I personally find that part of the preview trailer a bit insulting, and I'm sure its overwhelmingly insulting to you. I can't explain whats wrong with people. However I hate to be the one to say that what you are your son have committed yourselves too isn't on the typical Americans' minds like it is on yours. You have the right to voice your disgust at this 'comedy' but we overall aren't a country with alot of national pride. I used to live in Ireland. There's a country where your opinion on a comedian that mocks a countries' values would be the mainstream.

Oh, that's a classic as well.

But nothing beats Borat on the Republican Campaign Trail.

Who do you think this guy is talking about when he says "Bush may drink the blood of every man, woman, and child in Iraq?" He is obviously "joking" that someone is killing all of these people, so who do think he is talking about...surely not President Bush himself in Iraq since he isn't there, correct?

My favorite Ali G bit was the interview he did with Boutros Boutros Galli and introduced him as Secretary General, Boutros Boutros Boutros Galli

Wow way to completely miss the point. The quote doesn't mean everything that happens is funny. The quote means funny things happen even during bad times. It was later that day (9-11-01) I first heard the joke "why aren't there any Arabs on Star Trek? It takes place in the future", funny joke, sad day but a funny joke. There can be funny jokes on sad days.
