Technically speaking, it's because they're people and by definition people are flawed.
If you want to vote for some who is perfect, then you best write in Jessica Simpson.

Take away Jessica's acne medicine and she's as plain as any other teeny bopper.. I prefer the original Daisy Duke too, btw. ;-)
But i agree, it is human nature to be deceitful when the need arises to do so and unfortunately being a politician requires it a lot these days.

Painfully, the events that led to my resignation have crystalized recognition of my longstanding significant alcohol and emotional difficulties.
I strongly believe that I am an alcoholic and have accepted the need for immediate treatment for alcoholism and related behavioral problems.
On Saturday, with the loving support of my family and friends, I made arrangements to enter a renowned in-patient facility to address my disease and related issues.
I deeply regret and accept full responsibility for the harm I have caused.
Over the weekend, I communicated extensively with one of the most respected mental health experts in Palm Beach County, Florida, who has been instrumental in counseling and assisting me.
Attorney David Roth, my good friend of four decades has been requested by me to fully and completely cooperate regarding any inquiries that may arise during my treatment.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the prayers and words of encouragement that have been conveyed to me.

Could be the hand of Rush. I am sure he will be in the middle of this, as he too has been attacked by those trying to criminalize politics. Another thought....who is mad at ABC and might have threatened them to do this now? Or, is Mary Mapes working there now? Is that why an old non story gets dumped as a sensational scandal? I say non story because that was the evaluation of several news organizations who were shopped and did not run it.

Pols lies or bend the truth. It's a fact. What makes Foley tragic is that he spent a lifetime covering this lie. And for what? Power?

I was looking to see how mnay terms he had been in Congre$$, quite a few as I recall.. Unfortunately his campaign and congress web sites no longer exist or contain that info respectively.
