Europe Is Growing Skeptical Of Dialogue With Muslims (excellent article)
The NY Sun ^ | 10/6/2006 | YOUSSEF IBRAHIM

After years of dithering over political correctness with Muslims and Islam, Europe is waking up to a different morning.

A three-week tour of Italy, France, and Britain last month was enough for me to conclude that Western Europeans have moved way beyond dialogue. Confrontation, indeed even provocation, is their preferred approach to the Muslims in their midst.

Long before Pope Benedict XVI's scathing comments in mid-September on the fallacy of phony Muslim-Christian dialogue, signs of hardening European views toward current Islamic values were plentiful on the Continent

I think they will find the stomach to defend their homelands. The question is will it be too late when they finally do? Europe has extremely porous borders - worse than our own - so they have to unite. It is more difficult for Britain to do this because she is not situated on the continent. Which continental country will take the lead? It should be France, but she will only step up and say, "Me, too" and try to take over the lead when she sees someone else doing it. France will covet the lead but not the work to be done. That will bring about internicine squabbles. Italy could do it, and, as an economic leader on the continent, so could the Dutch. They have a small but very competent military. The Germans are too far left now to take the lead, but that could perhaps change if they would but recognize the threat on their doorstep. But the German psyche didn't see what Hitler was about until it was too late and I would not expect their dull minds to react anymore wisely in this situation.

Kipling wrote that in the 1800s. A few decades later, Europeans killed each other by the millions. Twenty five years later, they did it again, killing tens of millions. Three generations after WW2, they are much different as a people. Can they rewake the beast within, the inner Viking, Hun and Roman Legionnaire? I don't know. I hope they can, but I don't know. The underlying culture that existed in the 1800s has been wiped out, a victim of Gramsci and communism's attack on the basis of society.

And if they do succeed in eradicating Islam from Europe, I hope it doesn't result in a new monster. One of the things that has been fairly praiseworthy of America is that the people can become brutal as necessary when fighting a war, and then revert back to a peaceful, kind society when the war is over. For reference, check the aftermath of the Civil War and WW2.

It would probably take an overthrow of civilian rule in Europe to take the steps necessary to eliminate Islam's threat. What will happen after the threat is gone? Frankly, I prefer a European authoritarian rule to a Europe under the sway of militant Islam, but the former can be a threat to US interests, too.

By the way, Europhobe is an incorrect label. No one, least of all me, fears Europe. We pity Europe's cowardice, mock its military "prowess", denigrate its political correctness, and learn from its economic mistakes. We are cousins, but in the past century, we've gone from first cousins to second cousins--in other words, we are related enough to care if you succeed but not so close that we spend a lot of time and energy on your behalf. Good luck to you, and we will root for Europe's return to sanity.

Just look at Denmark.

The policies they instated after 9/11 has now resulted in a decreasing share of muslims in the country for the first time.

Some analysts think that is why the whole cartoon bruhaha happened in the first place, because the islamists were scared of what was happening in Denmark.

It's too early to give up yet.

In fact it is downright defeatist.

The danger of course, is that our immigration systems are unable to discriminate between "moderate" muslims and their more fundamentalist co-religiionists.

I don't know. My understanding is that they've done exhaustive studies of high-profile terrorists --the guys who DO instead of TALK-- and the irony is that many of them are better-educated, middle to upper-middle class, and they're guys who went the vast majority of their lives without being terribly religious at all.

Same thing for the cricket loving fish-n-chips guys who blew up the tube and the busses; the whole neighborhood block swore up and down that it all the terrorism was just a Bolt From the Blue from guys who love Shakespeare, and all that...

Instead of plumbing the depths of Middle-East history and ethnic blah-blah, I think we should just simply smile, apoligize, and stam all their passports "ENTRY DENIED".

The PICTURE of simplicity, and really the best way to play it.

Think of it like an American version of, "Revere the emperor, Expel the Barbarians!".

And well, they ARE the barbarians...

It's ironic that the continental European countries with their thousands of years long cultures and histories, including hundreds, if not thousands, of conflicts under their belts, are so reluctant to save themselves, while an upstart like the U.S. steadfastly undertakes needed acts of defense of our culture and homeland as required.

There was a reason I didn't mention Spain, however; the Germans are getting pissed! Take a look at the 20th century to see what they are capable of, and not just once. They are more likely to lead the action than collapse. Austria will fall under their sphere. Poland is solid. Figured the Dutch would also fall under the German sphere, again. Only question is will Germany bother to save France?

The First Amendment says they would be free to act and dress the way they do.

Our economy might not be as vigorous, but if a larger number of Amish and Quaker displaced poverty-stricken minorities and white trailer trash, I don't think there'd be any difference because those groups have no buying power which, as a subset of the economy, makes them no more valuable than the Amish or Quakers would be in terms of putting more cash and production demand into the economy. Further, crime and the drain on medical resources would be a lot less. Yeah, I'd trade low lifes with no buying power for the gentle, God-fearing, law-abiding Amish and Quakers who choose not to buy (anything except land, which they work) any day.

Norwegian christians have started a guard outside the oslo synagogue to protect it from muslims militants.

That said, European anti-semitism is still a scary prospect. But, is not all black and white.

For instance, the largest political party in Norway is a staunch defender of jews and Israel.

You're too kind. I would not offer them a chance to submit because they are too treacherous to trust and we are too forgiving and "civilized" to hold their feet to the fire. It would also be expensive. best to just annihilate them. I agree wholeheartedly with declaring that Islam is not a religion.

All the moderate muslims have been butchered for centuries, and their gene pool is seriously overloaded with serial killer types.

Imagine if 1/3 of our population were Quakers. or Amish. Would they still be free to act and dress the way they do? Amish is an excellent comparison because they foresake technology and would be death for the economy because of their rejection of materialism.

Ha ha ha. No, it wouldn't. They support themselves. You would simply have a smaller technological population that supports itself. You may as well talk about how devastating it would be for our economy if over 1/3 of the population didn't work and just sat around reading books most of the year or, for about 1/3 of their lives did nothing but play, eat, and cry. Oops, that's about what it is for those under 18 years of age.

After a three week trip to Britain including four days in London I gathered that the average Brit is fed up with insane Muslims. Especially after a press conference where Home Secretary John Reid was badgered by a Islamic thug named Izzadeen. Subsequent op-ed columns and letters-to-the-editors in the papers were full of comments by Brit writers and average readers telling the Islamist nutters to get the H out of Britain if they don't like it.

It was quite interesting and somewhat scary.

In Norway today, a quite famous Iraqi author who took refugee in Norway in 1981 wrote an op-ed piece today that he warned muslims in Norway, that if they didn't shape up, a new holocaust could be beckoning.

He talked about his experiences watching Norwegians look on a demonstration against the Muhammed cartoons in Oslo earlier this year, and described the look of shock, dismay, sadness, and increasingly outright hatred in the faces of the ordinary Norwegians watching the event

He has been in Norway the first man who has warned against Islamic fundamentalism long before 911. I think his piece was way too alarmist, but it was amazing to read in print.

I said the fears of a new Hitler was unfounded, but I want to qualify it in one respect. If some of the doomsday scenarios happen, with civil war in several Europen countries should take place, then who knows what might happen...

Let's work to make sure that never happens.

One can hope. The French have acquitted themselves so poorly for the last twenty years, I will be surprised to see the trend truly and fundamentally reversed.

"... I maintain it was a brilliant stroke to draw many of them and their new militants into one general location..."

I'm glad somebody else get's it. It's called AWR in the military unofficially. Allah's Waiting Room. There's one in Iraq and Afghan. Like roach hotels. Someone referred to Iraq as a Motel 6 for terrorists before we arrived there.

Al Quaida said over 4000 foreign fighters were killed in Iraq. That's a lie. The real number is around 60,000 between Iraq and Afghan. Why doesn't the DOD release the body count publically? I know it because I know someone that's retiring soon. It's not classified as Secret or Confidential. Get it out there!

That is a funny picture. Of course France also the "Front National". Fascist extremists using the subs to nuke Muslims is probably more likely to happen.

Please explain how you'll find all 1.1 billion Muslims and annihilate or convert them. Hitler tried to do that to a lot fewer Jews and he failed.

How exactly would you declare that Islam is not a religion? A Congressional vote? An amendment? Go on TV and say it? Exactly how would you make the rest of the world agree to your view?

Following this pogrom of yours, how would you then restore the United States to a republic, since the measures you suggest would violate virtually everything we stand for now?

Your inane ranting on this thread is astounding.

The fact that the bobbies are even looking for the guy is not encouraging. For ripping a veil off? By making a big deal out of it, they lend credence to the moosies beliefs and traditions. Her complaint should be ignored. She is not in a shar'ia-run country. Pulling off a veil should be no more of an incident than accidentally or deliberately knocking someone's hat off. Would the cops be looking for someone who knocked somebody's hat off their head? Hell no.
