Christian Right: Despised By Republican Elites(per MSNBC bow tie Tucker Carlson)
The Moderate Voice ^ | October 10,2006 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 10/12/2006 6:07:42 AM PDT by Dane

CARLSON: It goes deeper than that though. The deep truth is that the elites in the Republican Party have pure contempt for the evangelicals who put their party in power. Everybody in…

(Chrissy)MATTHEWS: How do you know that? How do you know that?

CARLSON: Because I know them. Because I grew up with them. Because I live with them. They live on my street. Because I live in Washington, and I know that everybody in our world has contempt for the evangelicals. And the evangelicals know that, and they're beginning to learn that their own leaders sort of look askance at them and don't share their values.

MATTHEWS: So this gay marriage issue and other issues related to the gay lifestyle are simply tools to get elected?

CARLSON: That's exactly right. It's pandering to the base in the most cynical way, and the base is beginning to figure it out.

Huh it seems to me that Tucker is the one with contempt, thinking that evangelicals can be manipulated, while he tries to mainpulate opinions with his show on the very liberal MSNBC. Gee Tucker scared you are going to lose your job at MSNBC if the GOP wins.

Bow tie Tucker is pathetic, IMO. Can anybody say sucking up to Chrissy Matthews and the MSNBC liberal suits.

Carlson is the neo-David Gergen, IMO, the ultimate so-called "conservative", but liberal political whore.

All that may be true but -- then again -- evena blind squirrel stumbles across an acorn now and again.

Tucker Carlson? He's not blind yet, but he maybe some time soon with the picture of Chris Matthews on his bathroom wall.

"It's pandering to the base in the most cynical way, and the base is beginning to figure it out"

This is another attempt to get evangelicals to stay home.

Sounds like a ploy along with MSNBC stooge Joe Scarborough to keep the base at home. Guys like Tucker and Joe think they can manipulate us simpletons so easily! It's really quite funny.

The absolutely pathetic attempt by MSNBC just goes to show you how little respect they have for conservatives. I guess thats why they are so easy to whip.

Makes me think of Albright giving Kim Jong Ill a Michael Jordan autographed basketball in exchange for them stopping their pursuit of nukes. If you don't respect your opponent, and he takes you seriously, your ass is doomed.

Bingo. They have heard the threats of people like Dobson and get all excited. Dobson has threatened to bolt which I think is wrong, but each to their own.

Who cares what that little, twit, panty-waist Tucker Carlson thinks or says? He lost his credibility, with me, years ago.

The irony in all this is that very few evangelicals, indeed very few carbon-based life forms, watch PMSNBC.

Tucker is right on.

However, Tucker is not a conservative and does not support president Bush. He is a media created token conservative. He 'plays one on TV' and that is it.

He recognizes the banal aspects of demoratic party advocacy but is never willing to endorse conservativism as a true point of view.

Republican beltway elite do not like evangelicals. Dick Armey's recent rants are futher evidence of the entrenchment.

I do not know if this is true, but I suspect that at least for some it is. And to be honest my trust and faith in the parties leadership has gotten so thin it makes an Ethiopian anorexic supermodel on a hunger strike look like porky pig. I now look at the record and do not believe just what they say.

I don't know what he was trying to accomplish. Maybe it was just another rant or maybe he is trying to convince people that Conservatives are not all Christian Evangelicals. Either way pathetic. I am not an Evangelical, but I don't care if people think I am or if people think I am Catholic or if people think I am a neo con. Whatever, I am a hawk pure and simple and I don't appreciate anyone that gets off message.

The elite Pubs may be pandering to me, but as long as they get stuff passed like tax cuts, decent judges, border wall, NSA listening, Swift money tracking, missile defense research I'll keep voting for them.

We can have a mutual contempt pact.

Carlson is correct about the Elites attitude towards the (so-called) Christian right (I say so-called because in today's world, if you are regular run of the mill conservative, they label you "RIGHT WING").

But he is DEAD wrong in accusing the party of pandering...last time I looked there are BOTH pro-life and pro-abortion, both pro-gay and anti-special rights for gays in the party (Unlike the other party which won't even allow a pro-lifer to speak at their conventions).

AND, if I set the rules for the GOP, no "man" who wears a BOW TIE could be a member....Tucker is old money blue blood...and those folks concern themsevles primarialy with preserving wealth...not a totally bad thing, but selfish if this is all you care about.
