Senator Barack Obama, the first-term Illinois Democrat who has rapidly emerged this year as one of the most popular figures in his party, said today that he was considering running for the White House in 2008, a shift in position that he said was in response to many Democrats pressing him to join the field... Mr. Obama opposes the war in Iraq and thus could provide an alternative for Democrats who have expressed strong concern about Mrs. Clinton's support of the war effort... Mr. Obama made his remarks in an interview with Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" on NBC, after being shown a videotape from an earlier appearance on the program where he said he would serve out his six-year term in the Senate and not run for president before then. Mr. Obama's aides said that because they were familiar with Mr. Russert's interviewing techniques, they had expected him show the videotape, and that Mr. Obama was prepared to pivot off it to make his statement.

If it splits the Democratic party, I'm all for it. Watching Clinton and Obama tear each other to pieces in the primaries would be great fun.

If Hillary feels she needs Obamalamadingdong on the ticket to lock up the black vote, it'll be a sure sign that her ship is sinking.

Mr. Obama opposes the war in Iraq and thus could provide an alternative for Democrats who have expressed strong concern about Mrs. Clinton's support of the war effort The Slimes states this as a matter of fact that Mrs. Clinton is even running for Pres in 2008 .. not that she isn't or is or ... oh well, just quote me as an unnamed source ...... /chuckle

"As it is, they said, if he ran for president he would have to overcome the questions over whether someone who had served just two years in the Senate, is 45 years old and has no experience in foreign policy was qualified to serve in the White House.
One of Mr. Obamas potential rivals, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, hinted at this potential problem when asked by George Stephanopoulos on the ABC News program This Week if he was prepared to run against Mr. Obama in the 2008 Democratic primaries. If he thinks hes ready to run for president and wants to run and Ive made a decision to run, then well go out and have a great contest, Mr. Kerry said."

Watching Clinton and Obama tear each other to pieces in the primaries would be great fun. Well, he can't call himself the First Black President, now can he?
Someone else already has that title.

The reason the Dems have never nominated a black VP is because no democratic president wants to end up in the cross hairs of a nutcase out to install the first black president. A Dem president with a black VP would have to be scared S--tless.
