Pelosi’s 100-Hour Tax & Spend Spree

What would the first 100 hours of a Nancy Pelosi Speakership look like? Unfortunately for America’s taxpayers, she’s beginning to tell us. Here’s a sampling.

· “Roll Back” the Bush Tax Cuts: What Democrats are really looking for is an excuse to “Roll Up” the date in which they can get more money from American families and businesses – a plan they’ve been dreaming up since Republicans lowered taxes in 2001.

· This “Roll Up” would cost American taxpayers $164 billion in 2011, and $1.5 trillion through 2015, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office [CBO].

· Further, based on a Treasury Department analysis, the Democrats’ tax increases would reduce economic growth by about $93 billion a year.

· Cut Student Loan Interest Rates in Half: While it may sound like a “free (or cut-rate) lunch,” this is just another call for feel-good legislation that will cost taxpayers billions in payments to lenders.

· This scheme would cost an additional $60 billion over five years, and $150 billion over 10 years.

· Raise the Minimum Wage to $7.25: Clearly, Democrat Leader Pelosi doesn’t get it – passing a federally mandated wage-increase would likely be most damaging to the very workers she’s claiming to help.

· Raising the Federal minimum wage would put up to 1.6 million American workers – or nearly 20% of minimum wage earners – in danger of losing their jobs because of the added costs on businesses, States, and local governments (according to Hoover Institution economist David Henderson). Job losses are likely to be concentrated among groups least able to absorb the shock.

Pelosi and the Democrats will stoop very low into the political gutter to force the GOP Senate to approve the Democrat Socialist Agenda and even force President Bush to sign Democratic Legislation.

For the tax cuts, they can simply refuse to renew the tax cuts and they'll expire. (The original cuts had an ending date.) There'd be nothing for the President to veto.

Then why didn't we (all three branches of Gov controlled by GOP)
make the tax cuts permanent?

I would think that rather than massive job cuts, it would result more in stalled job growth. Do any jobs actually pay minimum wage anymore?

"Then why didn't we (all three branches of Gov controlled by GOP) make the tax cuts permanent?"

That would have required them to have a set of balls. Many things could have been accomplished over the past 6 years if only they wouldn't have worried about public and media opinion.

I say on November 8, after the Republicans retain both houses, Republican leadership goes on a witch hunt and takes revenge on all the RINOS.

Then go balls to the walls and fill every court vacancy, renew the SS debate and take an axe to the terrorists.

"Raise the Minimum Wage to $7.25"

Doesn't that require the signature of the President?
Although he never used his veto pen before, I have a feeling he'll start using it now.

All we have been hearing for years here on this site is how conservative Bush is.
And how Principaled he is. So why do you think he will leave his conservatism and principals behind now?

Because although the republicans had the majority they didnt know how to use it. They had too many RINO's and they let the Dems get away with this Super-majority Bullshit.

If the democrats win the senate and thats a BIG IF,
Do you think they will hesitate when the GOP tries to use the 60 vote Super Majority on them?

I believe that IF the Democrats win the majority, if the Republicans try to use the 60 vote super-majority rule to stop them they will blow it away with the so-called nuclear option so fast it will make your head spin.
