Putting more orphanages in Africa is not the answer. Cleaning Africa up and educating and good health care and standard of living are. Let the African people do this for themselves. Stop treating them as pity objects and really start helping them.

And what about the orphans, of which there are many? Do they die as part of the clean-up?

["Nothing Madonna does will convince me that her primary motivation is nothing more than self promotion."]

You are "spot on ole boy." Madonna is where I'm from - Detroit. She attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor when I was there.

The problem that I have, is I can't fake a British accent as well ash she can - probably my Serbian upbring puts me at a disadvantage :-).

I find this whole adoption to be a curious thing.

One would think that to adopt this boy that the boy was an orphan, but as I understand it, he not only has a father but a grandmother.

Who gets the money from this adoption? The father, grandmother, 'orphanage'?

Isn't this akin to selling a persons child and since when does the US approve of 'children for sale'? (sepecially of those that aren't really orphans)

I remember a few years back a young boy arrived on the shores of Florida, his mother died trying to get to the states from Cuba, his father still in Cuba, but the boy stayed with relatives until the father arrived in the states to take him back to freedom in Cuba.

At the time people were screaming that the child belonged with his father, that 'family' shouldn't be broken up. How it would be different IF the boy's father wasn't alive, but since he was, the boy needed to be raised by his father. Where are those people now? Why aren't they speaking up and screaming that this boy stay with his father and grandmother and be raised by his family?

Madonna showed no mercy with this man and his children. For a few thousand dollars she could have helped him buy a machine to start a business. She could have lifted up his life so he could make a living and bring his children home with him. Instead, she took the one gift the poor man had, his own son. Now Madonna thinks it is fine to take children from their parents if they are poor? What a pathetic person. And how very sad for this man. How could his country's government allow this? How awfully sad.

Interesting. She could have helped the father, grandmother and child apply for citizenship in Britain where all three could have a better life and keep the 'family' together instead of separated. It would be different if he was a true orphan and had no living relatives.

Has anyone heard a thing from her husband Guy Ritchie after came out and said that he wasn't on board with this adoption and that he thought it was a publicity stunt?
