Blitzer Takes Cheney Defeat Hard: 'Surprised When She Came Out Swinging’ (Cry me a river Wolf)
NewsBusters ^ | 10/31/2006 | Noel Sheppard

This is turning into the gift that keeps on giving. Not only did CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer get totally schooled by the Vice President’s wife last Friday in front of the whole nation, but now he’s actually saying that he was surprised by Lynne Cheney's behavior.

On CNN’s Late Edition Sunday, Blitzer set up a replay of the now famous interview with the following (video here):

I've been covering the Cheneys for many years, including on a day-to-day basis, when he was the defense secretary during the first Gulf War and I was CNN's Pentagon correspondent.

Mrs. Cheney has been a frequent guest on my programs. In recent years, I've often invited her to discuss her new children's books, but she always is open to discussing the news of the day.

I love the Cheneys. Remember when Dick Cheney told Patrick Leahy to STFU after Leahy said something stupid on the Senate floor? Haven't heard much from Leahy since then.

As the former host of Crossfire Sunday, Mrs. Cheney is probably better equipped to take on the biased anchors at CNN or MSNBC than most in the Administration.

I agree that Wolf's shock and playing the victim doesn't change the fact that CNN's coverage is getting worse and worse.

They're liars in service to our enemies -- that's even worse.

It was fun watching Wolfie's own ambush get turned on him, though. Clearly a lightweight compared to Cheney.

I find it just astounding that it takes the vice president's wife to do the heavy lifting of this absentee administration.

I agree, it's sad that when Senator Dole is on Fox Sunday she can't call things out like this.

You started it, Junior. You shouldn't go into a battle of wits unarmed.

ROTFLMAO - take that Blitzer - and that - and that... LOL

heh heh heh

However, in fairness, my mom used to own a poodle who was one of the coolest dogs I've ever known. Great sense of adventure and companionship, liked to dig for clams, loved to go sailing ... a great dog.

Entirely unlike the Poodle formerly known as Wolf.

Liberals are not used to being effectively challenged.

That fact is one of the truest I know to exist in this world. From rank-and-file libs to lefty professors to Democrat politicians etc. they are so used to never being challenged because most conservatives know that unless there is a long and substantial debate where empirical evidence is allowed to be provided and examined all that is left is a collection of soundbites. If you ask a pro-choice lefty why abortion rights should be expanded when Roe vs. Wade's original justification for outlawing third trimester abortions was based on the viability of the (fetus) to survive outside the womb and then point out that medical advances have only expanded that viability you will be greeted with emotionally-charged and intellectually-bankrupt responses. They can't argue against the point with facts so the good 'ole namecalling tactic is then applied.

The vast majority of leftist positions cannot survive intellectual scrutiny.

Libs are like those "sports fans" that make definitive comments about the championship game but have no clue what happened all season to get the teams to that point.

My area they rolled out the FIOS TV about 2 months ago but I wanted to see how it was going to go before I jumped on it and now they are offering such a great deal that I couldn't wait anymore. The revues are mixed but I hate Time Warner that much that I'll take my chances.

Then they wouldn't have to move out of the Naval Observatory. Sounds like a great idea.

I hate Comcast, but I'm sure Verizon will still carry Cnn and other junk I hate just like Comcast.

Lynn Cheney is no piker....she is well brought up, has education next to none and married a man with whom she is on the same channel. She understands him and promotes his agenda. I think Ms. Cheney simply got sick and tired of the Demorat crap CNN has been handing out and telling everyone they are above it all....the WORLD WIDE CNN they want us all to believe...who doesn't recognize terrorists for what they are. Lynn won bigtime!!

Liberals are always suprised with conservatives hand them their hats. That is a good thing! They underestimate us and that is why we beat them every time.

I wasn't real fond of Comcast either but Time Warner bought out Comcast in my area and Time Warner owns CNN so even if Verizon has CNN on their network lineup I'm not supporting the parent company.

This is an absentee administration? Since when? Mrs. Cheney has the talent of speech. She uses it and she is extremely fast on her feet. Just because some others in the adm don't have her talent doesn't mean they are absentee. I think the WH understood their need for someone with her abilities when they hired Tony Snow. Their rhetorical talent (Cheney and Snow) doesn't make them better conservatives, but it does make them better public advocates of the conservative position. I'm very grateful they're on our side! And speaking out!

If the strategy was, as some have opined, that she released her book just before the election knowing she would be interviewed and asked questions about current affairs rather than the original subject then...mission accomplished.
