Decent CYA work would have been first apologizing to those who took his statements the wrong way (instead of insult people who think plain words have meaning them by calling them "CRAZY"), and then going on the attack against the President, calling on him to apologize. Kerry didn't do that.

I just called Chris Bell's (Democrat candidate for Tx. Gov.) campaign headquarters in Austin and told the answering machine:
"I am in Tom Delay's district and was planning on sitting this election out due to Delay's antics and the Republican leadership."
But listening to Chris's friend John Kerry disparage our troops once again, I am now motivated to vote straight Republican, including dialing-in that Gibbs woman! "
