"Sunni Islamists Websites in Iraq Claim Iranian Top-Secret Document Reveals Iran/Al-Qaeda Contacts Months Before 9/11"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "In early October 2006, Sunni Islamist websites affiliated with the jihad groups in Iraq posted what they claimed was a top-secret Iranian document. The document, dated May 2001, indicates contacts between top Al-Qaeda figures and the highest echelons of the Iranian intelligence apparatus, which is part of the office of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and can be viewed at the end of this document. [1]

Evidence of Iran/Al-Qaeda cooperation had already been allegedly exposed in 2003 by the daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat and by Voice of America in interviews with an officer in Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Hamid Reza Zakeri, who defected to the West.

The publication of the document at this time may be part of the mounting tension between Sunni Islamists and Shi'ites in Iraq.

The following are excerpts from the document and the interviews:"

"Police Shootout Leaves 1 Dead in College Park"
Nov 6th - 12:48pm

Kristi King, WTOP Radio

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A home invasion just blocks away from the University of Maryland campus ended in a police shootout that left one person dead early Monday morning.

Police arrived at a home on 48th Avenue off U.S. Route 1 shortly after receiving a call about the break-in around 1:30 a.m., Prince George's County Police say.

Sources now say at least four of the five people living in the home are University of Maryland students. One of the people in the home was able to escape and called police.

When police arrived - about 90 seconds after the 911 call - masked men ran out the back of the house and began shooting at police.

"We had a brief firefight," Prince George's Police Chief Melvin High tells WTOP. "The officers returned fire, striking and killing one suspect."

A second suspect was caught in a wooded area and transported to a nearby hospital with gunshot and dog bite wounds, police say. He is expected to survive surgery.

Police believe a trail of blood leading toward U.S. Route 1 suggests there may have been a third suspect. The area is cordoned off and police are investigating."

The Daily Telegraph ^ | 07/11/2006 | Duncan Gardham

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Dhiren Barot was the least likely al-Qa'eda chief imaginable, nothing like the perceived picture of a man planning to set off a dirty bomb in London and hoping to rock western society with a series of terrorist atrocities.

Short, quietly spoken and smartly dressed, Barot was born a Hindu and brought up in a north London suburb by middle-class parents before becoming one of the key figures in international Islamic terrorism."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Back in Britain he saw that el-Faisal had black bodyguards with relatives in Montana and travelled to the US to try to recruit them for al-Qa'eda."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Hambali, who is in American custody, has said he gave Barot contact addresses in California and South Africa and the California address may well have been the one used a few months later by the two hijackers."

"Beloved Saddam, strike Tel Aviv"

These are the people who danced in the streets and ululated at the sight of the Twin Towers burning and collapsing. "Palestinians protest Saddam death sentence," from AP, with thanks to Barbara:

Schoolgirls marched and shopkeepers closed down their stores in Jenin on Monday in protest at the death sentence handed down against Saddam Hussein by a Baghdad court which found him guilty of crimes against humanity.
Carrying pictures of Saddam, about 250 girls from seven to 13 years old paraded through the town's refugee camp, chanting "Beloved Saddam, strike Tel Aviv," the same slogan shouted by jubilant Palestinians when Iraqi rockets slammed into Israel during the 1991 Gulf War - before the marchers were born.

Under Saddam's rule Iraq donated $25,000 per household for Jenin residents to rebuild homes destroyed in a 2002 Israeli military offensive there.

In the Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, masked gunmen from a previously unknown group calling itself Arafat's Army threatened reprisals against foreign citizens in the Palestinian territories if the sentence against Saddam is carried out.

"We warn the American administration and its collaborators not to hurt Saddam Hussein because ... we will target all foreigners, especially the Americans and their British supporters," one of the men said, without giving his name. "We warn all foreigners in the Gaza Strip, especially the Americans, that they will be kidnapped and killed in front of witnesses."

As if that weren't already happening.

"Muslim Cop's Race Claim"
Updated: 07:00, Tuesday November 07, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Muslim policeman is taking the Metropolitan Police to an employment tribunal over claims of racial and religious discrimination.

It is claimed firearms officer Amjad Farooq was removed from a unit that protected senior figures, including Tony Blair, because he was seen as a security threat.

A security check found his children attended a mosque associated with a Muslim cleric who has suspected links to a terrorist group, The Independent said."

"Embassy row Pc married by radical cleric"
Telegraph-UK ^ | Oct 06, 2006 | Duncan Gardham and John Steele

Posted on 10/05/2006 7:25:36 PM PDT by fso301

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Muslim police officer who asked to be excused from guarding the Israeli embassy was married by the radical cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed, The Daily Telegraph has learned.

Pc Alexander Omar-Basha's father-in-law is related to Bakri, who performed an Islamic ceremony at the family home in north London.

Omar Bakri Mohammed Omar Bakri Mohammed praised the July 7 bombers

The cleric, who founded the now disbanded Al-Muhajiroun group of radical Muslims, is living in Lebanon after being barred from the UK.

Bakri caused consternation when he said he would never warn the police if he learned of an impending suicide bomber attack by fellow Muslims. He also called the July 7 London suicide bombers "the fantastic four".

Scotland Yard said yesterday that Pc Omar-Basha, a member of the Metropolitan Police armed Diplomatic Protection Group (DPG), had been allowed to absent himself from armed patrols outside the Israeli embassy after expressing concerns about the effect it might have on the safety of his relatives in Lebanon during Israel's military campaign in August.

The decision provoked a debate about political correctness in the police force and drew accusations that Muslim officers were being treated differently to others.

The officer's father-in-law, Abdul Majid el-Katme, is a doctor and Muslim activist, although he does not share Bakri's extremist views."

"Prosecutors Target Spain Terror Suspects"
Email this Story

Nov 6, 8:15 PM (ET)

By MAR ROMAN

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "MADRID, Spain (AP) - Spanish prosecutors demanded on Monday some of the stiffest sentences in the country's history for the seven lead suspects in the 2004 Madrid train bombings, seeking jail terms of more than 38,000 years for each.

The sentence request was included in the 300-page pre-trial recommendations that prosecutor Olga Sanchez presented to the National Court on Monday, chief prosecutor Javier Zaragoza told reporters.
He said the prosecutor's office was seeking large jail terms "for the intellectual culprits, the direct culprits and those needed to help to carry out in the Madrid attacks".

Among the prime suspects is Jamal Zougam, a Moroccan merchant who allegedly supplied cell phones used as detonators in the 10 backpack bombs that ripped through four crowded commuter trains on the morning of March 11, 2004.

Some 191 people died in the blasts, and hundreds were injured with many losing limbs or remaining paralyzed for life.

Zougam has said he had nothing to do with the plot. But the court indictment says witnesses have identified him as having been aboard the trains that were bombed.

The other six lead suspects mentioned in Sanchez's document are Moroccans Basel Ghalyoun, Abdelmajid Bouchar, Youssef Belhadj and Hassan el Haski, Spaniard Emilio Trashorras, accused of supplying the dynamite, and Egyptian Rabei Osman. Osman was convicted on international terrorism charges and sentenced to 10 years in prison in Italy on Monday.

In her report, Sanchez says the seven face jail terms of 30 years for each of the 191 killings and 18 years for the 1,820 attempted murders. Combined, the sentence request comes to 38,490 years for each.

The sentence petition, while demonstrating the gravity of the case, is mostly symbolic. Under Spanish law, terror convicts can face no more than 40 years in jail, since the country has neither the death penalty or provisions for life in prison without parole."

I read that to see if I needed to warn any of my very frequent flyer friends who might not be up this early but darned if it doesnt seem to say "be careful everywhere" and "watch for everything"...

Good advice but not very specific.

Went looking for an update about post #127 Pierrefonds school. No luck on an update, but I did find this:

Maple Leaf meat recall: list of products affected
2006-11-07 07:07:04

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Maple Leaf Foods have called in police to investigate whether some meat products have been tampered with.
Maple Leaf employees found a small number of syringe casings on company property, the federal agency and company said in a joint statement.
The syringes were found on Sunday at the company's plant in Kitchener, Ont., said CFIA safety inspector Garfield Balsom.
``We were informed Sunday evening that there was an investigation ongoing and we followed up with that and as a result today determined that there was some product that had gotten into the marketplace,'' Balsom said.
He added products pulled from store shelves and examined so far have not turned up any traces of contamination.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the nationally distributed products. However, Maple Leaf is recalling them as a precaution.

There are the products affected:
