Chris Matthews: Partisan extraordinaire

Posted on 11/03/2006 1:48:38 PM PST by disraeligears

Dear Mr. Moderator:

Please don't remove this post from Breaking News. This post should stand as a repository of every one of Chris Matthews's acts of crass, intellectually dishonest, boorish, and/or distemperate behavior of this election cycle.

I start this post with my impressions of Chris Matthews, his recent instances of belligerance, and all his fawning obsequiousness to his own self-image.

I find it amazing that he is associated with the same network that once employed David Brinkley. After watching Matthews this campaign cycle, he has thrown away any pretense of fairness or anything approaching such. It is one thing to be biased, even to wear your hopes, desires, and opinions on your sleeve, but the manner in which he just beligerantly treated DeWine this afternoon was over the top.

Moreover, when he, in my opinion:

hears "drum beats" in a Corker ad;

belittles those Virginians who don't inhabit the DC suburb by implying that they aren't interested in reading books;

shouts questions at his guests based on "alleged" factual premises, but in fact the premises are, at very least open, to good faith opinion;

implies that Lt. Gov. Steele is attempting to appear non-threatening so as to not scare the white folk by criticizing the brilliant Steele ads as "childlike";

hammers Allen incessently for allegations of racism but choosing to ignore any corresponding rumours regarding Webb for behaving likewise in the past;

browbeats anyone for believing that Kerry was lampooning the troops by insisting that his guests put the "joke" into context, but never himself maintain any intellectual honesty by also putting the "joke" into additional context by conceding Kerry's historical anti-soldier and anti-volunteer bias;

and I'm sure that there are those who are regular viewers both of this forum and his program could cite numerous other instances of his crass, boorish behavior.

Personally, I don't like it when those commentators whom I may agree with act with the same amount of gracelessness, but I would argue that none of the conservative ilk who display such corresponding outlandish behavior have a regular show on a major cable network, nor a status as a "respected" political commentator on a major network.

Personally, I've always believed in the philosophy of hate the sin but love the sinner, but Mr. Matthews is making this a more theoretical approach to life than a viable option.

In my opinion, Mr. Matthews, in his partisan zeal to obtain greater access to power, is willing to excuse gratuitous writings regarding apparent pedophilia, revel in the "outing" of gays, and see racism in political ads in which most modern southerners would not (and perhaps unwittingly providing insight into his own heart regarding such matters).

There should be an additional synonym for "ass----" besides Clymer........... you got it.......Matthews.

My opinion.

Watch Mathews on election night. 2 hours before they called the florida race in 2000 he looked like the cat that ate the canary, he could barely contain himself, He was sure gore won.

If he is sad tuesday, you will know which way the wind blows

Were you equally as outraged when he had a markedly pro Bush bias in 2002 and 2003?

The guy follows the polls. When Bush had high popularity, the liberals were whining like crazy about how biased Matthews is.

I'm not going to follow suit, namely because only 500,000 people (in a nation of 300,000,000) watch him.

I'm with you - Matthews is a fair-weathered friend who goes the way the wind blows. The worst sort of bloke.

Chris Matthews is a spitting, ugly, slimey fool. Chris Matthews is a coward. Michelle Malkin should kick his sorry plump *ss for the way he treated her. And I'm still awaiting Zell Miller to drill him in that duel.

I do not remember Matthews being peo-Bush in 2002 and 2003. But then, I never watch him. I do remember him being anti-Clinton at the height of Monica-gate.

The remarkable thing about this election cycle is the number of news outlets (TV and print) which have given up ANY pretense of objectivity and balance in their reporting.
