Wait, wait, wait. George Wendt and Richard Moll in a horror movie? That must have been hilarious.

"Imagine "the swimmer" Kennedy on steroids"

He could have killed another woman and still have been re-elected in a landslide.

I know the Democrats wouldn't be crazy enough to watch the price of oil zoom past US$90/barrel if Iran does invade Iraq after we leave--it would be economic suicide for them.

I know some people will be mad about my statement, but I personally think that the republicans should drop abortion off the national platform.

Why? The Dims only won by fielding candidates that are pro-life. And pro-gun too. If these new senators and congresscritters were pro-choice gungrabbers, they couldn't have got elected. And they know it.

That doesn't evaporate overnight, even in Washington. They also know how fickle their voters are because many of thes new Dims defeated very fine GOP congresscritters to get elected, Republicans who actually did a good job for their districts and who were only beat because the voters were restless.

The Dims have a majority. But they have now become a 'big-tent' party. IOW, we'll see some revival of the old conservative southern Democrats. Those folks never did like the "northeastern liberal" segment of their party, no more than we conservative like our northeastern liberal segment. But to be a national party with a majority, you have to compete in those states and therefore the big tent.

It's not time to just abandon decades of pro-life (or pro-gun) policy. Especially when the opposition has completely caved on the issue. Nationally, we have won both those issues permanently and the Dims know it.

You political 100%er made your bed. I will enjoy making you lie in it.

This election isn't about FR's little battles.

We held our base solidly. But the GOP didn't hold the independents. It's that simple.

Did you bother to consider you JUST fired the only people fighting for YOUR side on Tax cuts and the Border yesterday?

WRONG. At least here in MD, the base did not come out on the eastern shore and in western Md.
Lets not forget a lot of dems in the south and mid west ran as conservatives. I know what will happen when they get to DC...they will be socialists. But they fooled enough people.

Fox News has had the same exact thing...

Did they? Interesting.
Still, I prefer to watch Fox over CNN.
Much as I prefer fresh bread to day old bread.
The difference is in the flavor and texture.

I think you are waaaaay too generously shortsighted, it will be "sucicide" for ALL of us! They don't want to drill Anwar, but they don't want to defend our foreign oil supply? You figure it out. Any way you choose to look at it, its not a pretty picture.

As some other FReeper said already, "hold on to your wallet"!

Meanwhile, we'll all just pray there is something left to "fix", when the Republicans "get back on track", according to your standards. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

I've never understood the "we gotta give it all away so we can get it back" mentality. What a rationalization!

What? I did no such thing. My district elected a closed-borders conservative, one of the top Club For Growth candidates, yesterday. He is one of the very small GOP freshman class of '07.

Don't blame me if the rest of you fail to persuade your neighbors to vote correctly. You're the ones who dropped the ball.

Oh, then they will be punished for sitting out the election. They'll learn. Morons.

Lets not forget a lot of dems in the south and mid west ran as conservatives. I know what will happen when they get to DC...they will be socialists.

Some of them are Blue Dogs. Zell Miller types. And they don't owe anything to the Clintons or Pelosi. In fact, Pelosi is catering to that bunch, having recruited them and funded them. She gets Speaker for the effort but they ain't walkin' the plank for Comrade Pelosi's leftist ideas. And some of them, like Jim Webb, make no bones about hating the Clintonization of their party.

One of the most interesting things I saw last night was John Breaux. He said almost nothing but looked very very satisfied. He seemed to me to be silently celebrating the resurgence of the old culturally conservative populist Southern Dems. Can't blame him, it's been lonely for guys like him and Zell Miller in D.C.

Not all of these new Dims are Pelosicrats.
