After living all my life in in the California Blue Bay Area, who would want to live in Mississippi? Well, I wouldn't mind giving it a try, sometime. What's the humidity like?

BTW, we Japanese don't make sushi out of freshwater fish, especially catfish. I would think the reason would be obvious.

So then it's not true? Harlem does not contain those types of people?? Seriously, enlighten me.

---------------------------------

Name a town or area that doesn't have crime. Harlem has its share but it's far less than some of the hysterics here want you to believe. There are certainly not "drug dealers on most corners, and people who would cut my throat for no other reason than me being a "Cracker."" as that other poster stated.

I know Harlem better than any other freeper, going back to the hey-day of the seventies when all NYC was dangerous. Even then this character's description would have been way over the top. It is a ridiculous description of Harlem today.

So Rangel is already talking GUN CONTROL? GO to it Charlie; we will have the House and Senate back in 2008.

Yes, but will we have a Capital building for them to meet in? We almost lost it, or the White House, in 2001. Next round we might lose both. That "next round" was brought a whole bunch closer and made much more likely last Tuesday.

The Terrorists discovered that we *are* Spain after all. ....

Or at least some of us are.

The rest are armed to the teeth.

Can we say "Who the hell wants to live in Harlem"?

Course not, that's racist and probably homophobic too.

Besides we know the answer.... The First Black President, BJ Clinton.

Hey, I could move to Mississippi since Houston sucks so very much.

Or you could stay in Texas and move to San Antonio, probably the friendliest large city in Texas.

Besides, that's where the Bullet Hole is located.

Almost feel like I should buy another gun and more ammo.

You should, so should I, and so should all the rest us. Probably going to need them.

They will cut their own throats for us.

And pave the way for the Jihadies to cut the throats of the rest of us.

The hookers are cheaper?

That actually makes more sense than any other explanation I've heard, from BJ or anyone else.

Gun control on the Federal level, will never be passed. Not until a bunch of us have passed away.

Oh please, it already has been, starting with the National Firearms Act of the 1930s, moving on to the Gun Control Act of 1968, the machine gun *ban* of the otherwise laudable Firearms Owners Protection Act (although "shall not be infringed" should be all the "protection" we need from the likes of Charlie Rangel), the Brady Act and the now departed but soon to re vivid (with a Sniper Rifle provision!) Assault Weapons Ban.

that's why we have 50 States - Something for everybody

Well, not quite. ".. the right of the people ... shall not be infringed" is for everyone.

In your state it's further reinforced by:

"“That every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state.” Article 1, Section 26.,

and yet the statute law provides:

"It is unlawful to carry a concealed pistol, firearm, or airgun without a permit. It is unlawful for a person to carry a pistol about his person on premises not his own or under his control. It is unlawful to carry a rifle or shotgun walking cane."

No person shall carry a pistol in any vehicle or concealed on or about his person, except on his land, in his own home o"r fixed place of business, without a license"

A bit of conflict there, don't you think? Still, much better than NYC, or even NY state.

President Bush better hold the line on gun rights. He appears ready to sell the country down the river on immigration, so Bush can at least support the second amendment, right?

He's got a mixed record. He's on record as saying he would sign the Assault Weapons Ban, but he also signed the Texas CHL law, as he'd promised he would.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money,

Never mind that they *earn* much of that by providing services to the rest of the country. To wit. Kessler AFB, which trains electronics types, Columbus AFB, which trains pilots, NAS Meridian, which does the same, Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport, various functions, both NASA and military at the Stennis Space Center, and shipyards at Pascagoula where ships are built for the Navy, and so on.

What do the denizens of New York City do to earn their federal dollars, other than vote for the Likes of Charlies Rangel and Schummer and Hillary?

Can you just imagine this dirty scum with his hands in the federal till.

Unfortunately, we aren't going to need to *imagine*. The nightmare will be quite real.

My granddaughter and I were sitting in the swing looking at the leaves. They are not as pretty here this year. Guess the lack of water had something to do with it.

Don't know about that, here in North Texas (I'm visiting) we've had a similar lack of rain, but the colors are earlier and more vibrant than usual.

Today is beautiful with clear blue skies and it is 74.

Same here, but only 55.

The conversation was about cultural differences such as places to eat, level of state government with regard to building permits, etc. It did not revolve around the States infringements upon Constitutional issues, neither did my comments.

A bit of conflict there
The Alabama State Constitution has been amended, modified, changed, etc. so many times it is unlikely that even the Lawyers can figure it out.
The State does require a permit for concealed carry - and I agree that that is a violation of the US Constitution, however, it is what it is.
In real life carrying a concealed weapon when not committing a crime never gets through the Grand Jury - never. I've served, and the police don't even bother with it because it will never be prosecuted. If it did happen to get prosecuted it is a misdemeanor that carries something like a 25 dollar fine.
We are not a "Shall issue" state though, something I wish we were by law. Again, however, no Sheriff in the state would be reelected if he decided to not issue permits.
If you carry in Alabama you are in good company. I myself carry everywhere I go unless I am at work - then it is in my car. I work in manufacturing facilities. Being private property - they are free to set conditions for entry (another discussion - another time).

While not perfect by far, Alabama is one of the friendliest places that you will carry your weapon.

Well, yesterday was 74 and today it is 44. Guess the cold front did come through. When I went to bed late last night it was 67.

I think a small part of me is really gonna enjoy the Lib's in "power". It will be some good entertainment!

You mean the "flowers" sprouting over our cities, and the heads rolling in the streets in others?

Frankly, it doesn't sound like much fun to me.
