Because he wanted one in Manhattan and he over-reached by trying to originally put it in some of the most expensive real estate on the face of the earth. Even the Dems couldn't support such an outrageous maneuver and he had to retreat to Harlem to save face.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

WOW .. Can't ya just feel all that love in the air

The Dems are off to such a great start

Two of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at were in Meridian, MS (an excellent German restaurant) and Oxford, MS (a very fine French/Continental place called The Grocery). Friendly people, no crime, a few tornados now and then, but one of the best places to visit, for an inexpensive vacation, in the US.

I'll have to correct a bit. I've been to upstate NY - Great folks for sure, but they are quite accustomed to what we down here consider intrusive Government. It does have GREAT people who live there for sure - bit I still wouldn't want to live there.

If I want to add on to my house, 15 minutes at the county office and I've got my permit and off I go. No problem.
I am free to carry my sidearm nearly anywhere I chose to.
There are a great many differences - but that's why we have 50 States - Something for everybody.

Yep, the 'Rats take Congress and the first thing they want to do is grab our guns! No surprises there, and I hope that it will be the beginning of the end of their none-too-short stint in power.

So Rangel is already talking GUN CONTROL? GO to it Charlie; we will have the House and Senate back in 2008.

Gun control on the Federal level, will never be passed. Not until a bunch of us have passed away.

From my cold dead fingers..is not just an olde tyme saying, wonder if the government would like to find that out?

Rangel is showing how much of a "glass bowl" he truly is.

The only thing that surprises me is how quickly he let it show!

Note to Rangel:

Why don't you take your limp wristed lib butt down to Mississippi sometime? Yeah, go on down and start spouting your anti-gun crap down there why don't ya? I know plenty of ol' boys there who would KICK your worthless a__ all the way back to New York and then some.

Not this former NYer....
I'll take the stand with my southern conservative brethren.
Screw those pompous NY elitists...they have botched up NY so bad....it's like a foreign city to me. Wish a lot of my family would get out of there...most of them are conservatives too.

No offense intended - but upstate New York is starting (ideologically) to look like NYC with each passing election cycle.

He will or WE will. That is what the second is all about.

You should see it in the spring. When my daughter and I went down last year, the ground was covered with white, blue and purple flowers. Looked like a carpet of flowers. Of course, I love MS since that is where I was born. Did y'all know that a Russian ballet company comes to Jackson and it is the only city in the country that it comes to? Will have to go through my emails and see if I kept one with facts on the state.

Most voters are more aware that Britney Speers text-messaged Kevin to tell him she was getting a divorce than know who Nancy Pelosi and Charlie Rangle and Alcee Hastings are, much less what party they are in and what they do.
