John Gibson just stated that Rep. Conyers has announced that since Speaker Pelosi said that impeachment is 'off the table' that there will be no impeachment of President Bush.

I'm glad Conyers said this.

It shows that Pelosi understands that she is the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, at war, and that she doesn't just play one on TV.

It shows that she doesn't intend to let the Democrats lapse into insanity, and it shows that a fanatic liberal old-liner like Conyers is on board with her.

Will they investigate? Sure.
Will they criticize? Of course.
But impeach, like we did to Clinton?
Not on the cards.

Good.
Good, good, GOOD!

If they stay the course on being responsible (and this was certainly a responsible thing to say), then the Republic will come through this ok.

If they are talking about it, it means that they are planning it.

They are going to start with 'hearings' first.

They will deny that the purpose of these 'hearings' is to impeach Bush - but that is exactly what they will be doing.

They will probably work on the Vice president first.

Ah, thank you. Though I've spoken english for many years...I'm still learning. Phrases come up that I do not know what the meaning is and dictionary does not help either.

They do not need to impeach Bush. They have subpoenas and committee chairmanships. The process of indictiment or impeachment may not happen, but dirt-digging investigations will cause to trickle out ever human failing of the administration or anyone related to the administration. This will be the softening-up of the Republicans before Hillary runs for President. This will be a 2 year-long cavity check of the republicans. It will not be fun.

We didn't care about a "distracted" president when it was Clinton. But they just want to impeach Bush for payback. Problem is Bush didn't break the law.

Of course, Klinton sold our secrets to CHINA. He used our military to distract the country from his hearings. He rented out the Lincoln bedroom for campaign contributions from foreigners. He should have been impeached.

Saw a truck today with a bumper sticker saying "Support the Troops Impeach Bush"

I see a lot of those here. I'm much more than half tempted to print off a bunch of second stickers for these idjits that say "Cheney for President - Impeach Bush"

One is automatically suspect if one sees President Bush as the enemy on a thread about John Conyers and his threats to impeach this fine leader.

That means YOU, Taggart.

"I don't even think they'll push for hearings on Iraq. They were privy to all of the information in the lead up to the war, there is nothing new that they will discover, they have nothing to gain by pursuing it. Better to just leave enough doubt in the public's mind."

Exactly. behind closed doors, the RATS know they don't have anything new, that they were privy to the same information as Bush was, and they in fact acted on this very same information, which was good information while Demonrats had the WH, but all of a sudden wasn't when Bush took office.

The RATs would have to impeach themselves as well. It's all media spin, media lying to the public in order to regain the whitehouse for their party of choice.

There should be inquiries alright, but they shoukld be directed at corrupt media and the Democrat party.

Problem is Bush didn't break the law.

Except that by the time the drooling MSM breathlessly covers every single investigative hearing, cleaning up the ridiculous parts and the exculpatory parts, the public will be convinced that there is no single law that Bush didn't break.

No, why would they need to impeach him when he's so willing to bend over and take it from them? Huuuummmm?

The Republican members of the Senate and House are responsible for getting themselves elected in '08, not by default. They need to work hard, stand on principle and be vocal about it, getting their own message across. No more hidey holes to retreat to when the going gets tough. Get out front and stand up for our country and our troops. America needs a leader now. Who will be the first?

What charges would they use against Cheney? Being disrespectful to Charlie Rangel? Attempted murder (for shooting that lawyer)?
