I don't know the facts of this story, but I look at it a bit differently.

If Barbara Cubin were a Democrat, and had threatened to slap a wheelchair bound opponent, it would have never been put in this story. Only because she is a Republican did it get put in there, to make Republicans look bad.

As for Chris Shays, he won, but Nancy Johnson lost and Rob Simmons appears to be the other CT casualty, as he is behind and in a recount. Very small margin, but doubtful he will prevail.

"People, relax. The ONLY thing that has to change is the GOP run squeaky clean candidates -- and find some scandal on Democrats -- and the result reverses."

I think you're partially right. The problem was mostly perceived corruption, and when it came to ideology DINO ended up trumping RINO.

The GOP does need to clean house and run some actual conservatives. The problem they're going to run into is that my (Democratic) party isn't going to just stand there and watch. Democrats are looking at this election and what worked and are going to try to duplicate those successes. I think part of the ongoing Democratic strategy is going to be to continue to portray the GOP as corrupt, inept and hypocritical. Another part of the strategy is going to be to run more conservative Democrats.

When you think about it, running more conservative Democrats is a good thing for conservatives. When the two political parties compete for the conservative vote, conservatives win.

What's up with JD Hayworth in Az.? He was on the other day with Sean Hannity and was claiming that tens of thousands of votes in his district had not been counted. Supposedly the results won't be in till Monday. He was optimistic he'd keep his seat. If there are any updates please advise. JD Is a patriot and deserves victory.

"Yeah, but even if we got all eight of these in the House, they would still have the majority. Right?"

I believe the assumption is they already gained 28 seats and that is with REpublicans winning these races.

I know 2 things -

1 I do not trust anything the AARP says, and

2 No politician cares more about drug companies than they do about 10s of millions of voters.

I also believe drug companies SHOULD be able to make a profit. 95% of attempts to make new drugs fail. It requires a high reward for companies to take that kind of risk - and the result are new drugs, like the one my Mom has taken instead of chemotherapy. It was experimental at the time, but her cancer has stayed in remission and I believe it is now widely available.

Since she preferred dying to chemo, the drug developed by one of those evil drug companies in search of a profit saved her life - and saved a ton of taxpayer money in chemo treatment.

But the AARP doesn't care about that. They have an agenda (all money all the time to old folks), and screw anything that involves free markets or decision-making by individuals!

There is going to be a run-off in TX for Henry Bonilla (R) seat that's not mentioned in this article. Henry had more than twice the votes of his nearest challenger, but didn't quite make it to 50%. Unfortunately, all the challengers are now throwing their support to Cyros Martinez to beat Henry. I'm not making any predictions after last Tuesday on the outcome, but I'll be working for Henry (again) in the run-off.

Can the House override a POTUS veto.

according to the constitution both Houses, by two-thirds votes, have to override the veto

Correct on AARP. They supported the clintons and the dimocrats. Stay away from them.

Yes they would but a much smaller majority and the smaller the better. None of those 8 seats are Rhinos, losing them would not be good.

"Don't forget that we got Clarence Thomas through a Democratic Senate."

Remember, we had leadership then. It remains to be seen if our 'leaders' in the minority will lead or just be more go along to get along compromisers.

Is there any chance that one of our many RINOs will jump ship and become democrats to be in the majority? I'm sure the dems are working on a few as we speak.

I think that is a possibility. I would hate to have Republican numbers dwindle, but RINOs don't count. RINOs need to get the heck out of the Pubbie party anyway.

I would hate it also, even though I really didn't shed any tears over Chaffee. I do believe it was our obstructionist RINOs who lost this election for us, RINOs and Mavericks, too.

Exactly right. I've been in some pretty good arguments with others about this, but I agree completely.
