Democrats Reveal Their True Intentions: Tax Hikes; Top Advisor to Democrats Recommends Raising Taxes

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement by John Kartch of ATR:

Democrats rested on Wednesday following their victory to take over both houses of Congress. But sure enough by Thursday the calls for tax increases were put on the table by the Democrats' top economic advisor, Robert Rubin. Rubin served as Treasury Secretary in the Clinton Administration and as an advisor to failed presidential candidate John Kerry.

The decision to wait until after the elections to mention tax increases should come as a surprise to no one since Rubin suggested this exact tactic during the Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. Rubin said:

"I don't think you can make proposals to try to dig out of this hole until you've gotten elected and until you've organized effectively across both parties and both houses. If you start to put out proposals now, they would be vigorously attacked, and they would in effect become tainted so they couldn't be used." Source: Rich Miller, "Robert Rubin: Embrace Kerry," Business Week Online, 8/2/04

"Liberals are doing exactly what Rubin suggested in 2004 and what conservatives tried to emphasize throughout the entire course of the 2006 election cycle," said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. "Clearly, Rubin views his position on taxes as unacceptable to the American people or he wouldn't have advocated keeping their plans a secret until after being elected."

Americans are now in jeopardy of experiencing a $2,000 tax increase if some or all of the President's tax cuts are not made permanent. All the tax cuts are set to expire by the end of 2010. Furthermore, the new Congressional leadership is advocating tax increases wrapped under different guises such as the "Tax Gap" and "Tax Reform." Despite their poll-tested rhetoric, the fact is these proposals are designed to extract higher levels of tax payments from the American public.

"Democrats dressed up like Republicans on the tax issue during the campaign and emphasized they would not raise taxes. Somehow the new leadership believes they have a mandate to raise taxes on working American families, continued Norquist. "Despite repeated rhetoric by Pelosi and Rangel in the final weeks of the campaign claiming they will not raise taxes, it is becoming clearer each and every single day that tax increases will be on the table."

I would not object if the purpose of the tax hike was to retire the national debt. However, my chances of seeing that are like seeing the Redskins, Nationals, Capitols, and Wizards all win the title in one year.

This would be political suicide. I think Democrats realize this, unless they are insane, which they could be.

If they raise taxes, we win the House back in two years. It's that simple.

It still takes 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. That and but one senator.

If tax increases pass, it will be the will of both parties.

This is more targeted at high wage earners, not the super rich and small business owners fall into this category.

Most people don't mind tax increases. In fact, they don't notice at all. That is the beauty of withholding.

But if they have to pay and extra 10.00 a month for gas,
there is hell to pay.

I heard a week or so ago on Rush how much it will hurt middle class families if they lose the tax cuts. To the tune of $2K or $3K a year for families making $45K to $75K with three kids, etc. I guess people voted to pay more taxes. My husband says "We have all the government we can afford already"

But these new "conservative" democrats are going to stop that according to some on FR.

The far left socialists own the democrat party. They'll do as they're told. It's not their choice. They want military surrender, open and unfettered abortion, infant experimentation, UN judicial control, and homo elitism.
The democrats will be forced to oppress the majority with Marxist laws.

The lower section, the welfare slugs, are demanding tax payers pay their health insurance premiums, offer free Internet access, and buy them free gas via gas stamps.

The democrats HAVE to oppress and tax. The base won't tolerate "moderate-ism."

" until you've organized effectively across BOTH PARTIES ...."

oh Bs...if they sell it as the "RICH" just paying their fair share, the masses love it...

or, they will hide it in any number of new fees or surcharges or heck, just increase the SS taxes on the workers and nobody will even care...especially not all those millions recieving it..

I would not object if the purpose of the tax hike was to retire the national debt.

National debt: $8,608,815,476,866.38

Your share is $28,676.79 Surely you jest?

Did you mean national deficit ?

How about lowering government spending instead?

Bohica!

Ruben is setting up the foundation for the Sequel to the Horror Movie, 'The Raping and Plundering of America by the Clintoons!'. This sequel will be called, "Big lesson for Republican Americans, The Clintoon Raping and Plundering of America #II". Or just "Return to the Clintoon Years courtesy of the Bush Haters of America!"

Ruben, Piglosi, $inator Clintoon, Kerry, Kennedy, Boxer, Finestein, Schumer and the rest of the tax and spend rats will be takining away from us for their voters. Je$$e HyJack$on and Rev $harpton will get payment for anyone whose ancestors were slaves and probably an illegal alien.

This is just part of the lesson we got started on this past Tuesday from the Bush Haters on both sides. Our country barely survived the first lesson of the Bush Haters which gave us the first 8 years of the Clintoons. Remember how they have told us that their lessons are so good for us and America. Remember it is good to lose control of Congress. Enjoy the pain.

Thanks again for the lesson. When al Qaeda starts taking out American Cities like in the new show Jericho and the upcoming new 24 2007 show, we will be able to personally thank the Bush Haters for that lesson. al Qaeda will probably wait for those lesson until we have a Rat President and Congress installed in 2009 after another lesson in November 2008.

They know that if they take out cities with GW even as our lame duck president, they will pay. So they will wait until most of our military has been subpoenaed for phoney war crimes and our military looks like it did in Jan of 2001. Those stupid military people will be learning lessons like the rest of us thanks to the Bush haters.

This will be a huge lesson to the young people in America. That will be to never join our military. Because if they do, they might face a life time of criminal charges. Thanks again for the lessons courtesy of the Bush haters on both sides. Just watch the maggot infected Henry Waxman and Dingle go after our warriors with subpoenas and phoney war crime trials. Thanks again for the lesson from the Bush haters from the right and the left.

Of course all of these lessons have to be paid for. So kiss GW tax cuts goodbye and BOHICA for all the new taxes coming our way. We will be so educated in the upcoming decade.

on the left and right.

Who pays more in income taxes in percentage terms?

And who pays more in terms of dollars?

You need to brush up on your democrat lexicon, I know it's been awhile since the country talked about tax increases, but in the democratic lexicon, "rich people" mean everybody not on welfare.
