Oh, Lord help us.
The Democrats are going to let another terrorist attack happen if they keep giving all these rights to terrorists.
This is the kind of thing that the Republicans need to keep alive on the Senate floor forever. Keep it on the front page. Keep it on TV.
I can just imagine some of the few remaining German and Japanese WWII commanders seeing this and thinking " if only we had people like this helping our side back then, things might have turned out different."
Like this wouldn't be vetoed by the President anyways.
Great. Didn't take long for the Dems to begin self destructing. Maybe they'll start some gays in the military and gun control and tax hike talk soon. This may be a fun two years after all.
"Restore.?" They mean bestow.

They don't necessarily have the vote for it. I suspect Lieberman and perhaps Webb will not go for it. The 3 military guys who made the deal (McCain, Graham, Warner) will not agree. And the Maine Twins are less likely to bring out something that has been decided recently.
They want rights for our enemies, that should have been shot dead long ago, and meanwhile persecute eight of our Marines at Camp Pendleton?
Can we ever get this government turned right-side-up and frontward again?
This has .00000001% chance of getting 60 votes for cloture and if some whacked Senators managed to get it through it has 0% chance the President will sign.
forget habeus corpus....wouldn't it be easier to just send them home with a happy meal.........
never again...will the US take terrorists..it is not spoken but in iraq...these terrorists now just get a bullet in their diapered heads and left to rot and called casualities!!!
at least the US learned one valueable lesson when dealing with the lib/dems...I mean with the terrorists!!!
Habeas corpus was the basis on which the Court reviewed, and then approved, the military tribunals used for those trials. Now that Congress has acted, the same applies to the Gitmo detainees or any other illegal combatants. The regular US courts still have habeas corpus review at the Supreme Court level, but ONLY to make sure that the established procedures of the new military tribunals have been followed, and that's it.
Leahy is either too dumb, or too biased, to realize this. Either way, he is wrong, and any attempt by the new Congress to change the current law on illegal combatants will (or at least should be) blocked by a veto from President Bush.
Congressman Billybob
I think that he should. The American people, through their votes, have indicated that is what they want. They [the terrorists]are only misguided and live in poverty. If we show them that we love them they will stop wanting to kill us.
We have begun the process of showing them how much we love them by getting rid of those evil hate-filled Republicans.
America should be afraid...very afraid!
