President Rudy Giuliani?
Forbes ^ | 11/14/2006 | Nathan Vardi

Posted on 11/14/2006 11:02:49 AM PST by Dark Skies

Giuliani has been carefully preparing for this moment. He spent the past election season accumulating a reservoir of good will among Republicans, campaigning hard for Republican candidates from Oregon to New Hampshire. He was particularly adept at raising money for those candidates and has established himself as one of few presidential hopefuls capable of raising the $100 million or so that is seen as necessary to win the White House. At the moment, he is getting help from Anne Dickerson, who ran President Bush’s highly successful Pioneer and Ranger fundraising machine in 2004.

Giuliani has allied closely with Bush & Co. He made a high profile speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has gone on the road to stump with President Bush. There has also been speculation, started by the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker, that Ken Mehlman, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman and former Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign manager, will be joining the Giuliani camp.

"Rudy is an American guy."

Only un-American "guys" are gun-grabbers that dress in drag.

Reagan Man,

I've voted Straight Republican my whole life as well. The first lever I pulled was for Ronald Reagan in 1984 not long after my 18th Birthday. I am also anti-abortion, but I think that the challenges facing this nation right now in terms of foreign policy dictate that we must nominate the very best candidate in terms of 'electability' in a 50-state election. Now I'm not sure if that's Rudy....it may be, it may not be. But I will do virtually anything short of actual violence to prevent the Democratic Party from gaining access to our National Defense at a time where our nation faces its gravest threat since World War II. Let's kill the Islamic Nazis FIRST, then we'll worry about domestic issues.

That's a good word, thanks. Pragmatism IS the key for this time around.

LOL! I had been nice and not mentioned that he had married his own cousin. Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark!

LoL. If that is the best alternative then we may as well forget the whole process and give Rudy the nomination now.

Did you read some of the bill Romney has pushed in Mass? I'm not at all found of his healthcare plan, too manditory and too big brotherish for my taste. There is something too slick about Romney.

He also ran Marc Rich out of the country so Clinton had to pardon his ass.

Before Clinton was elected, 2 or 3 books came out about his personal history, blind ambition, questionable character, the corruption in Arkansas, his relationship with and the influence of Hillary. Well, it all came out, and worse, when Bill was elected. Although his narcissistic psychosis was pretty much ignored by the press, his sexual deviancy and predation were not. Even Ed Bradley asked Kathleen Wiley if Bill was "aroused" on 60 Minutes. (She shook her head in the affirmative)
His character deficiencies were visible for all to see before he was elected.

I'm sure there will be several books written about Rudy between now and the nomination. If they present clear evidence of severe character flaws, ala Clintong, then thumbs down. Until then, all the character police should keep an open mind.

To all the "won't voters", you've already saddled us with a miserable Dem Congress, close your eyes, tilt your head back and relax with the following "President Hillary Clinton" drifting through your mind.

That should be all the medicine necessary to cure you of your madness.

what the hell is happening to the Conservative movement...we are tearing ourselves up for no good reason.

Take a look at the names of the posters trashing Rudy; they are the same posters who trashed any and everybody that wasn't their choice in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

That's what they DO here at FR. It's like their job is to tear the party apart and make you feel like you're "not worthy" if you don't agree with them.

So go ahead, vote for a nice, conservative, Republican and then live with the results for the next 8 years.

I fully intend to. The way I see it is we are too far out from 2008 and it is too early for Rudy to be trotted out. This is more of a knee jerk reaction given last week. For Petes sake even the dims havent had one person throw their hat in the ring yet.

Have you tried getting her to read some of the Clinton books?

Unfortunately, none of the "most conservative" candidates has even a remote prayer of winning the nomination much less the presidency. If more than 5% of the population even knows their names it is only to scorn them as idiots.

You left out Freedom from consideration and comment from your post. There is no logical reason whatsoever a gun owner would vote for someone that would make them a criminal. The right to keep and bear arms is a right, not a privilege. It is a right that provides for effective self defense.

If terrorism is the the most significant criminal threat to the nation, then effective self defense should be promoted, not demeaned and vilified. The answer to criminal action is not to turn a Free country into a police state, but to encourage it's citizens to remain free and to respect the concept of both small govm't and effective self defense.

"strong national defense both foreign and domestic, for less taxes, smaller government, and will appoint strict constitutionalist to the bench."

Domestic defense does not include gun grabbing and a loss of freedom. He is not smaller govm't and has done little to whittle away at any regs in NYC. He added to the volume. He will appoint judges with an definite authoritarian outlook to the courts, not those that will honor the Bill of Rights.

"I hope all the anti-Rudy people here on this forum enjoy Hillary and the rest of her Socialist minions...this thread makes me wanna cry..."

Giuliani is just as much a flaming leftist as Hillary. If Giuliani wins the nomination I'll never vote for another republican as long as I live. He is revolting and disgusting.

There, there is no comparison. Rudy is a fiscal conservative, Hillary is a fiscal Hawk -- being that she wants all our money to hawk to her liberal constituents who don't want to work or work as hard as you and I, money buys a whole lot of love....

I want everyone to listen very carefully. This is the voice of abroad speaking now. We are engaged in a long, bloody struggle with terrorism; there are no circumstances in which it is excusable that Hillary Clinton would lead that struggle on behalf of the Free World. It would be an international disaster.

I don't agree with Rudy on everything. I don't like his stance on abortion in particular. However, HILLARY WILL GET US KILLED!.

Think carefully. Sometimes being practical is more important than being pure.

Regards, Ivan

Re your tag line: that's like calling Christians "Jews who believe Jesus is the son of God" or Yankees fans "Red Sox fans who don't think the Yankees suck."
