Terri's Story
Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation ^ | December 3,2006 | Schindler Foundation

Posted on 12/03/2006 3:03:26 AM PST by 8mmMauser

Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Careful. There are 100,000 Redneck Commies who will stop at nothing to impose their doctrine on you. They will even give you a WEDGIE!

Redneck Communism is a cult that follows the notorious "Protocols of the Learned Elders of North Korea." Its sick, sick rituals are widely practiced in Bolivia, Santa Monica, CA, and in covens of poverty lawyers throughout North America.

Yes, I have heard of that document from Kim. I understand it was Il conceived. Must of been him who perfected the use of the wedgie, tried with Saddam's half brother leaving us all with his better half.

Hang on to your ID's all. Be sure they include a prohibition against treatment by nurse Mikey or O.J. Here is a thread by wagglebee with thanks to Salvation and narses

LONDON, January 16, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Observer in the UK reported Sunday that Catholics in the UK have taken to carrying special ID cards informing doctors that they do not wish to be deprived of food and fluids in the case of admission to hospital.

In a growing worldwide trend, doctors in the UK consider what used to be routine care--administration of nutrition and hydration, by artificial means if necessary--to be "treatment" which can be refused or denied.

in Washington, D.C., on Monday. "It's not just about abortion, anymore. The culture of death in our nation is threatening the lives of people like my sister through euthanasia," Terri's brother, Bobby Schindler, said. "It is happening quietly every day in nursing homes, hospitals and hospices around our nation. People need to be aware that this could touch a member of their family at any time," he added.

But I've been told by "conservatives" as recently as last night that this simply is not the truth.

"Conservatives...." right.... We have been discussing certain pretenders who pose as such. They are fewer in number these days as inevitably their attempts to attack with their feeble weapons merely unmask their real selves.

Like Bobby, many of us here started to open our eyes to the atrocities at our own doorsteps, ones slipping in so quietly we hardly noticed. We could do an anecdotal sampling and find a large number of us right in these threads who can quote an event or two in their own background to match. I can quote a couple or more myself.

If you ever had the opportunity to speak with people who lived in Germany in the 1920s and 30s, that is exactly what they said. The Nazis sounded great and by the time people understood the real agenda it was too late.

Mr. CRUZAN: What are you having today, steak?

NURSE: Iamolite.

Mr. CRUZAN: Boy, she sure responds to that voice.

NURSE: Yeah, she does. I can come in here and--

snip

Mrs. CRUZAN: You (Nancy) have company. You look like you need your hair brushed.

Mr. CRUZAN: Nancy, we brought a fellow by the name of Bill Colby up with us. He's the one that's going to represent us in this thing that we talked about.

( The parents of Nancy contacted the ACLU and they referred them to Bill Colby. He urrently is a Fellow at the Midwest Bioethics Center, the leading practical bioethics think tank in the country.)

Mr. COLBY: Hi, Nancy.

Mrs. CRUZAN: I don't think she's real impressed.

Mr. COLBY: Is this how she appears each time you come?

Mr. CRUZAN: Yeah, this is it.

snip

Mrs. CRUZAN: Well, Nancy, we got the decision from Judge Teel today. He ruled that you do have constitutional rights to determine your own treatment, so it was all favorable.

Mr. CRUZAN: I don't think that you know what we're talking about. I don't have any way of knowing that. But if you do, why we talked about this a lot before and you know why we're doing it. We've still got a ways to go. But at least we won the first round.

SNIP

Mr. CRUZAN: It's going to be difficult, kind of a tough couple of weeks for her, but--but then she'll be free. And that statement that I wrote the other day, I--Ill read as much of it as I can. I don't know if I can read all of it or not.

"During the late fall and winter of 1986, realizing that Nancy was not going to recover and that she would not wish to continue in her present condition, I made a commitment to her to allow her to die with some dignity. On May 28, 1987, we presented a letter to the Missouri Rehabilitation Center requesting that treatment be stopped. Today, 1,206 days later, we have that court order.

She was our bright, flaming star who flew through the heavens of our lives. Though brilliant, her life was terribly short lived, but she has left a flaming trail, a legacy that I do not think will be shortly forgotten.

Because of Nancy, I suspect hundreds of thousands of people can rest free, knowing that when death beckons they can meet it face to face with dignity, free from the fear of unwanted medical treatment, unwanted and useless medical treatment.

I think this is quite an accomplishment for a 25 year old kid and I'm damned proud of her. I know that wherever she is today, she is looking down, beaming with pride, damned proud of her family. Now we walk with her to the door of death so that she may at last pass through and be free. I don't even know why I tried to do that. So fly away, little sister, and have fun." http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/programs/transcripts/1014.html

And here is the ever uplifting Dr. Cranford.

"Minneapolis neurologist Ronald Cranford, a family friend and regular expert witness in favor of removing food and fluids in cases like Nancy's, said Joe had been chronically depressed for some time. According to Cranford, Joe was "an ordinary man with extraordinary abilities." "But he ran out of energy after [Nancy] died," Cranford said. Commenting on Joe's death by hanging, Cranford added that, in his opinion, Joe's was "a rational suicide" since "he was never going to get better." [American Medical News, 9/2/96:8]

To continue...........

Whether she maintained her swallowing ability after the insertion of the tube is unknown, as no follow-up swallow study was done because it was thought this would distress Nancy's parents......

If such a study had confirmed her ability to swallow, she might have been put on a program to improve that ability until she was able to take enough food by mouth that the G-tube could be withdrawn.

Without the study, of course, no one knows if she could have lived without the feeding tube. Neurologist (and "right-to-die" activist) Ronald Cranford testified that even had she been able to eat by mouth, spoon feeding in cases like Nancy's "would be morally repugnant" and was "totally inconsistent" with what was wanted (Nancy's death).

Who made the decision for Nancy Cruzan to die? (And what is it with "right to die" pushers who use the word "treatment" when they are inflicting a horrific death by dehydration and starvation?)

Mrs. CRUZAN: Well, Nancy, we got the decision from Judge Teel today. He ruled that you do have constitutional rights to determine your own treatment, so it was all favorable.

Whaddya bet that serpent Cranford helped his friends, the Cruzans, reach and stick to their decision to kill their own daughter?

I've been told the same thing, by so-called "conservatives." These same "conservatives" use the opposite argument when it serves their purpose. They say it happens every day, so we shouldn't make such a big deal out of it.

They are the same "conservatives" who claim that Terri couldn't feel anything, but she felt the "euphoria" of her death by torture.

They claim the Holocaust didn't involve euthanasia of disabled people, but invoking the Holocaust is wrong because it involved euthanasia on a massive scale (including the euthanasia of disabled people which they alternately admit and deny happened.)

They claim to be advocating following the wishes of the patient, but they demand death of the patient in absence of any idea what the patient would want. They've even come out against the rights of disabled people to have their stated wishes to live honored.

They claim to have compassion for disabled people, and claim to want to protect their dignity, but they make heartless demeaning jokes about them.

Should we believe what they say, or what they do?

People have a habit of dying unnatural deaths around Cranford. He always labels the deaths natural and rational.

The event is just a few days away...

............................

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- When hundreds of thousands of pro-life people gather in Washington for the annual March for Life, Terri Schiavo's brother and sister will be with them. Bobby Schindler and Suzanne Vitadamo say they will represent the loving memory of their sister as well as medically vulnerable patients like her.

The pair will participate in the march and also attend various other pro-life events on Capitol Hill during the weekend.

In a statement LifeNews.com received, Schindler said opposing abortion isn't the only reason for participating the march.

“It’s not just about abortion, anymore,” Schindler said, “the culture of death in our nation is threatening the lives of people like my sister through euthanasia."

"It is happening quietly every day in nursing homes, hospitals and hospices around our nation. People need to be aware that this could touch a member of their family at any time," he explained.

In the 22 months since Terri Schiavo’s court-ordered death by dehydration and starvation, her family has worked tirelessly to bring attention to the growing threat of euthanasia.

Through the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation, the organization formed initially to save Terri’s life and now runs in her memory, the family works to assist medically vulnerable patients and their families faced with similar life-threatening situations.

“We deal with cases all the time where families are desperately seeking someone – anyone – who can help them deal with medical professionals and facilities that are refusing to provide life-sustaining treatment for their loved ones,” says Suzanne Schindler Vitadamo.

“It is absolutely frightening how often this is happening. Families need somewhere to turn," she said.

Terri's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, also work for the foundation full time as they work to assist disabled and incapacitated patients.

Sandy Burglar and the April Fools joke...

On Friday April 1, 2005, the Department of Justice announced its embarrassingly lenient plea deal with Berger. The timing was more than fortuitous. On March 31, Terri Schiavo had died. On April 2, Pope John Paul II would die. DOJ could not have chosen a day better calculated to give a casually indifferent media an excuse for ignoring a bombshell of a story.

A peek into the unkempt dirty corner which passes for the thinking process of the leftists as they go after Glenn Beck...

........................

Though you may think that, by hiring Beck, you've got your finger on the pulse of America, allow me to clue you in, Diane: You don't. America has abandoned the radical right-wing ideology, in part because radical right wingers have long abandoned reality. By catering to the special interests and aligning themselves with the politics of fear, smear, division and distraction, the Republican Party has long ignored the American people. Americans don't care about Terri Schiavo's personal decisions or the latest missing white woman; they care about how they're going to pay the bills. How they're going to put their children though college. What happens if they should happen to fall ill or lose their job. I thought the Republican Party, given last November's election results, were the last to realize it. Apparently not.

Glenn Beck's common senselessness

A gathering of intellectuals.....actually all I need to understand about this august body is encapsulated in the name of one member of this board, a personal nemesis of mine from the eighties. That he would be part of it is enough.

However, a huge public outcry and demand for mandatory oversight after the anthrax attacks hasn’t materialized, unlike after the Tuskegee abuses were exposed. Some of this could be due to the fact that the anthrax perpetrator(s) haven’t been apprehended. The 109th Republican-led Congress also was not prone to responding to such concerns, but rather to protecting corporate interests; unless, of course, the crisis involved Terri Schiavo.

More on the Obama nation and where he stands or sits...

Throughout the book, I found myself continuously frustrated by Obama’s deference to Republicans and the excesses of the Bush Administration -- as he gives the opposition a certain aura of credibility that they simply do not deserve. As he discusses the Senate debates over the President’s “war powers” to combat terrorism and the Republicans’ manipulation of the Terri Schiavo affair, he writes “as much as I disagreed with [their positions], I believed they were worthy of serious debate.”
