Depends on who you are and what level of training you have had.
Ah, an elitist....
figured.
I didn't mention the Orangemen parading through Catholic neighbourhoods etc, true, but we were discussing bombings, not the entirety of the situation.
If my comment was misleading or seemed to be slanted against one side or the other, I misspoke.
Good day.
That is just the metropolitan police.
There are other bombings by Irish in other jurisdictions, to include Ireland.
The ETA (Basque separatists) did a bombing in Spain just yesterday.
As I recall the RAF (Red Army Faction) also did rather a lot of terrorism some 20 years ago.
My point is Islam is hardly unique, and the terrorist threat does not come from all Islam, just as the militarist threat does not come from all with German heritage. Many Muslims move to the US to get away from the fanaticism. It would be rather sad if they were then victimized by us, since they are our natural allies.
#119---sorry, but you're hopeless. If you think those are good analogies or are in any way commensurate with the global Islamic threat, I suggest you get in on the ground floor, and convert now. There is such a thing as racial and ethnic stereotypes, and fortunately, or unfortunately for us, our Islamic enemies do not conform to any known stereotypes, but are creating and refining patterns of predictable behavior world-wide, every day. You'll keep coming up with your "but, wait, you don't see" helpful "analysis" until you just can't resist being badgered to vote for the next Keith Ellison.
I rather think I am hopeful.
I know that Islam was stopped previously, in both India and Europe, for different reasons. I look at those examples as why we can stop it again.
The Muslim guy down the street working the 7-11 is not a terrorist threat. He moved to the US to get away from the nuts.
Another guy I met at work moved to the US from Iran because he is a computer scientist, and didn't want to be pushed into writing code to censor internet access.
A third guy is from Iraq, and does passport photos. His brother died in Desert Storm. He move to the US, converted to Christianity, and married, to get away from Saddam.
A lot of Muslims have good ideas on how to stop the nuts, and would really like to help help stop it. Some of them I count as friends.
BTTT
"My point is Islam is hardly unique, and the terrorist threat does not come from all Islam,"
Yes, it does. It comes from the KORAN.
"Many Muslims move to the US to get away from the fanaticism."
Then their children get that "old time religion" and start it up again. We have the UK as an example of this.
"It would be rather sad if they were then victimized by us, since they are our natural allies."
You're far too trusting.
If I was a member of a group that had committed horrendous actions in the modern time frame, as Islam has done, I would either disavow my association with that group or I would do whatever the free world thought necessary to protect itself from future horrendous acts. When the feds start to worry about the 'feelings' of Islamists more then they worry about the 'feelings' of ALL Americans, the feds lose a serious amount of credibility. But what the heck, we are talking about a group of people that have run up trillions of dollars of debt. They really do seem to have problems planning far ahead.
