How Barack's winning the evangelicals
American Thinker ^ | 12/29/06 | Nicole Russell

Like a dutiful dancing partner, Senator Barack Obama has begun courting the evangelical right, and some are already waltzing along in perfect time.

With his attendance at Rick Warren‘s church, Saddleback Valley Community, a mega-church in California for a large conference about AIDS, Obama has begun to align himself with an important base of voters to gain what conservatives lost this last year. Already lauded by some prominent evangelical publications for his outstanding "Christian faith" and a person Rick Warren called a "good friend" and a someone he'd like to work with on important issues, Obama is in perfect position, if he can keep the momentum, to use an unusual strategy for political gain.

Obama has become well-known not only for his charisma and sudden rise to fame in the last few months, but for his outspoken Christian faith to which he refers regularly.

Who is managing this guy? There has to be someone in the background calling shots.

"AMEN !! The "Christian Left" is growing in amazing numbers and under the banner of "social justice" they will embrace Obama's preaching from the gospels of Marx and Engels."

And maybe some on the Christian Right will fall for Obama's preaching as well - which is an underlying theme of the article, especially if someone like Gulliani or McCain win the nomination.

The devil and Rick Warren are working overtime in our EVANGELICAL churches.

My church is going through a horrible upheaval. Lot's of Warrenism going on, and the pastor is throughly confused about right and wrong.

The "Evangelical Left" preaches activism to stop global warming, but in the same breath calls on James Dobson and Jerry Falwell to stay out of politics in regards to abortion and gay marriage.

Could you explain? I'm interested.

Warren doesn't have many friends these days. He has been exposed as a leftist, endorsing Syria, Saddam Hussein Obama, and Global Warming. Not to mention the fact that his religious views are distorted and his teaching and methods are destroying churches.

I think Rudy will win the primaries and Obama too. The Presidential race will be a close one. The Rudy supporters, who gloat about not needing conservatives, will come begging Freepers to vote for Rudy. They'll say Obama supports gay civil unions, late term abortions, and gun control, while neglecting to point out Rudy's stands on those issues.

The comedy should be fun.

I hope you're wrong, fear you're right, and will work as hard as I can to prevent such a destructive scenario. It ain't worth any amount of comedic value.

I mean a politician who puts the illegalization of abortion high on his/her priority or platform. Reagan and Bush are against abortion but they really didn't do anything as presidents to make abortion illegal. Bush got a partial birth ban from Congress but that cost, IMO.

I just don't see a candidate winning who goes around tallking about how he's going to fight to make abortion illegal.

"his religious views are distorted and his teaching and methods are destroying churches."

I know he's been exposed as a leftist, but I was unaware he was causing this much damage. Thanks for the info.

"The real question is ... do Evangelicals know Obama does [support partial-birth abortion]??"

They will probably not find that out from the MSM, which in lockstep (as usual) portrays Obama as a "moderate." But I have a feeling that despite the media's adulation of Obama and Hillary, the Dems will eventually rally around the more electable John Edwards.

The prophesies point out that in the end times, people will worshipers of themselves, and there will be many counterfeit "believers" that will deceive the faithful.

It's a media myth that the Christian Left was moribund all these years and has only recently begun to challenge the "religious right." Left-wing Christians have dominated the NCC and WCC for decades, and on Catholic campuses all the "peace and justice" groups are far-Left, in love with Castro and the Sandinistas, and have been so for many years. Even 40 years ago, Christian ministers with campus ministries were almost always far-Left.

In the end he will have a lot of support among Evangelicals because a lot of Evangelicals are black and they will vote for him.

Neither did I? More, does Rick Warren? If so, he is totally discredited (IMO).

I agree. There is no political consensus for that, nationwide. If the republicans still have the constitutional amendment to ban abortion in their platform, they should get it out. It is not gonna happen, and it is an albatross around their necks. Overturn Roe v Wade as bad constitutional law? Yes, but to try to ban abortion would be futile. The best that can be hoped for is to return the issue to the states.

Why is the press pushing this guy on us?? Something stinks.

They know damn good and well that Hillary is unelectable. They're trying to game the system so that Obama wins the Rat nomination, and can usher in an era that hasn't been seen since Camelot. I say, let them, the truth will "out" Obama during the general election campaign. And mark my words, Hillary will go as low as she needs to, to attempt to defeat him.

My dream scenario is that Hillary limps into the Rat convention with less than a majority, and has to stomp all over the other also-rans for a victory on, say, the fifth ballot. The black supporters of Obama refuse to work for her, or even vote for her in November, after what she did to their homeboy.
