Speaker Hastert: "In the summer of 1974... we needed a healer, we needed a rock, we needed honesty and candor and courage. We needed Gerald Ford."

a very long day for her and the days ahead. Small little woman, but huge in strength. Somehow we do what we must do.

William Broomfield collapsed. I went to check out who he is on Wikipedia and it already lists that he collapsed at the Ford Service.

Hastert can speak. His speech moved me to tears at Reagan's funeral. Me too...especially when he quoted Lincoln at Gettysburg, saying of the tribute to RWR, "It is altogether fitting and proper that we do this."

Yes..he's more eloquent (in words, not in delivery) than he looks; IIRC, he did a fabulous eulogy for Reagan also.

I did too. For a few minutes, Wikipedia said that Congressman Bloomfield was pronounced dead at the hospital. But they later took that down. I hope he is going to be alright.

Now, good friend Cheney is speaking. Our VP is very good at these tributes; he was wonderful to Rumsfeld. Too bad SECDEF had to miss this.
To: Mo1
I just love Dick Cheney. Truly.
He's one in a billion.
To: La Enchiladita
I always felt like Ford was like us, that he didn't take himself too seriously and he didn't think he was the be all end all because the became president.

He sounds, understandably so, like he's having a hard time. This man, our VP, is a national treasure, and who knows whether we'll see one like him again anytime soon.
