Some 800 inmates riot in California prison

By Adam Tanner 14 minutes ago

Guards battled for four hours to subdue some 800 rioting inmates at a Chino, California prison in one of the state's largest such uprisings in years, an official said on Sunday.

The fighting at the California Institution for Men in Chino east of Los Angeles began at 9:24 a.m. (1424 GMT) on Saturday and continued until 1:30 p.m., said Oscar Hidalgo, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

"They used everything from tear gas, batons, they used wooded and foam projectiles," Hildago said of the guards. "There were so many inmates involved at one time that they had to pull back and regroup."

Officials brought in reinforcements from other prisons and local police, both to regain control of the prison and to assure that no one escaped from the area spanning 2,500 acres during the fighting.

One inmate suffered stab wounds and remains in serious condition; 27 other inmates were taken to area hospitals for medical treatment, Hidalgo said. Another 24 were treated for minor injuries at the prison and one guard suffered heat exhaustion.

Gang conflicts are often the cause of fights within California's prisons, and corrections facilities are often starkly divided along racial lines by the inmates themselves. Officials are investigating the cause of the latest riot, Hidalgo said.

The Chino prison, which first opened in 1941, is divided into four facilities with minimum to medium security, with inmates living in largest dormitory areas. The prison was under lock-down on Sunday and officials were inspecting the amount of physical damage.

"We're looking at transferring approximately 36 inmates because of unacceptable housing situations," Hidalgo said. "It is one of the largest altercations we've had, no doubt."

"Diversity training" is forced on the American worker. So what is this nonsense all about?

I'm sure that this will be an excuse for the Ninth Circus to order the release of prisoners.

There are two problems I see with prisons now:
1) Vast amounts of illegal aliens, many violent thug types
2) Way too many non violent prisoners in for relative minor drgu offenses.

Deal with these two problems , the costs go down and possible more rehab and post prison re-entry into society could be done, to reduce future crime even more.

But of course, that is too rational and the moralistic drug crowd would be upset.

The problem here is that there's no white majority on whom they can blame all of their problems. When you think about the society from whence they came, this has GOT to be pretty frustrating for them.

I think that the "moralistic drug crowd" is just a myth invented by cowardly politicians. A few citizens might object, but the mass, if they are made to understand that nearly 80% of crime results from the illegality of drugs, would go along.

After all, with an 80% drop in crime, there would sure be a hell of a lot of money made available to treat idiots that chose to use the legally obtained drugs.

Amazing how quickly such words can bring about the meaning of "changing your opponents' will" in the etymology of warfare.

I say get all of the guards out and then drop in enough weapons for them to all kill each other.

send them to Iraq.

Iraq like Hell, airlift them into Iran and tell them that if an inmate (or inmates) brings us the head of Ahmadinejad, they get a full and complete pardon and $100,000 a year for life.

I rather like that idea.

For a 2500 acres [10 km2] place 81 mm is a pinprick. MOAB, or an AC-130 visitation.
