Silencing conservatives on the airwaves

Silencing conservatives on the airwaves

A final thought for this week is a personal one.

I've been the target, as have a number of other conservative talk-radio hosts, of an effort by liberal bloggers to get me fired for engaging in what these far-left activists are calling "hate speech."

The move by liberal activists to silence conservative radio hosts comes after the failure of the left-wing Air America radio network. Given that liberalism couldn't compete and win in the marketplace of ideas, liberals now want to silence conservative radio hosts.

One anonymous online blogger compiled audio clips edited to make it look like I was calling for the murder of Nancy Pelosi, when I did no such thing. (You can listen for yourself and understand how they are now trying to impugn my credibility by misrepresenting my words).

One blogger called for fining me and my station $325,000 for each "offense" so as to shut down our station. Another liberal blogger is lining up activists to do a drill to get Congress to pass a new Fairness Doctrine. Another blogger said they were going to work until they got me "off the air."

I've been on the air for 12 years at KSFO radio in San Francisco – one of the highest-rated talk-radio stations in the nation.

Every day for four hours I sit behind a radio microphone, fighting for a better America that promotes freedom, liberty, security, honesty and integrity. That calculates to be about 1,200 minutes every week. That's a total of more than 60,000 minutes each year for 12 years.

Over the course of all these years, I have of course said things I regretted, or worded things in a way I wished I hadn't. When that happens I've retracted the statement and made a public apology, such as I did concerning comments made about Sen. Barrack Obama. You should read my statement on this matter here.

Despite the efforts by liberal censors to silence me, I will never back away from what I believe in: a strong national defense, respect for the men and women of the United States military, a secure border and enforcement of our nation's immigration laws, lower taxes, less government regulation in our lives and in business, respect for the values of decency, honesty and morality.

Any efforts to silence me are just further proof of how desperate and pathetic liberals have become.

You of course have a valid point.

I genuinely fear this, however.

I've enjoyed news/drama/comedy radio since the 1940s. I am ecstatic with modern talk radio. I lived through the decades of the "Fairness Doctrine."

When President Reagan ended the "Fairness Doctrine" and modern talk radio began the most oft-heard caller comments were, "I didn't know others knew about that!" "I thought I was the only one who believed that way!"

There won't be a new "Fairness Doctrine." There are too many sources of information. The courts were about to end it if Reagan had not.

There is however the "threat" to democracy as outlined in the very popular on the left (NY Times, for example) book, "Republic.com."

Literally, the government should force Internet users, for example, to consider all opinions. "No more conservative web sites only, Mister! Our democracy is in peril from such 'narrow' conservative thinking, see." The author may have backed off a little on forcing compliance.

Mr. Stark (please see my reply above) used a word to describe yet another "threat" to our democracy. It conveyed the idea of threatening social order, a word less shrill than hatemonger. I can't remember it.

I say again: This cannot be ignored. Congress must know that we will not stand for it.

Already there's a proposal in Congress that would require conservative talk show hosts to register as "lobbyists." Recently a Seattle radio station was deemed by a court to have contributed money to an election campaign solely because one of the hosts opposed a ballot measure on air.

This cannot be ignored.

Historically violence in freedom's pursuit has been the only route to securing and preserving liberty from ones oppressors.

In current times and for practical purposes violence has been removed from our arsenal and I'm not sure what course to take.

I know underestimating ones enemies (as I imply Melanie Morgan has) is a mistake. I also believe engaging in debate with liars (the US left in our case) is like bringing a handshake to a gun fight.

What we can do now on an individual basis is make sure we don't empower our enemies with a feeling of acceptance. We can refuse to hire a lib tradesman or purchase from a leftist business and be sure to tell them why. We can note who was arrested for throwing rocks through the windows of a Republican's campaign headquarters, get their phone number and call them (as well as their neighbors and employer) to express disgust. We can divest ourselves of liberal friends, again being sure to tell them why. Same with family.. societal ruin is thicker than blood.

Your overly broad response to my post indicates to me your question is more rhetorical in intent. Perhaps designed to dismiss my carping with little substance of your own. Usually I ignore such but there was an answer for you.

Not complete or perfect? You bet. But I thought Melanie Morgan's comment needed to be corrected because its casual acceptance takes us further from the prize.

If we lose talk radio, we lose the war. That simple.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

There is a good reason why rebels storm the broadcast towers and stations. Those who control the media, win.

Worked for Hitler to start his war with Poland didn't it. Had a squad dressed like Poles come across, attack the radio station, make a broadcast, then run back across to Poland (or so they put out). The control the MSM, TV, etc. Talk radio is it for us. That is all we have beside the internet. And a lot of people do not get news from the internet. They get their sports, buy stuff, and porn (LOL)!!!

We can divest ourselves of liberal friends

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

After the election of 2000, I was disgusted and appalled at the lengths the Democrats would take to steal an election. I was revolted by my liberal acquaintances and their excuses for this behavior.

It was then that I realized that I could never again be friends with a so-called "liberal". I saw them for what they are: Leftist/Marxist/Collectivist Socialists.

Bump for the morning show.

The 3 hours long special show from yesterday on this topic can be heard on the KSFO website.

I listened to hour 1 today.

It merely prohibits a station from blasting away day after day from one perspective, without any opposing views.

So "Air America" would have been illegal under the Fairness Doctrine, even if it did not die all by itself just due to market forces.

"Liberals just want attention, that's all."

Bull. Libs want control. CONTROL! Total Control. Over every facit of YOUR life. They want socialism. Worse, they would happily kill every person who uttered a conservative idea. They are rabid and unending in their efforts. They are Islamists without the rags.
