After two black legislators denounced his comments yesterday on a proposed state apology for slavery, a Hanover County delegate told a Jewish lawmaker who also was upset that his skin was too thin.
Del. David L. Englin, D-Alexandria, who is Jewish, took Del. Frank D. Hargrove Sr., R-Hanover, to task for "inflammatory" comments Hargrove made to the Charlottesville Daily Progress.
Hargrove was quoted as saying that asking the state to apologize for slavery would be akin to asking Jews to apologize for killing Christ.

The guys on the radio this morning were bringing up a host of different analogies including indentured servents and the Chinese who were brought here to build the railroad.
An interesting point, and analogy, that was made about why apologies should NOT be made, is that it opens the doors for lawsuits. The analogy of what would follow was to liken it to the tobacco lawsuits where only the lawyers and a few high rollers (they menitoned Jesse Jackson) would see any money.

Bein' as how I am one (sort of), perhaps I should demand apologies from the French and Germans (descendants of the Goths, Visigoths, and Vandals) for the sack of Rome.
You're right, it is fun...........and the only way to point out the absolute absurdity of the entire idea.
An apology would be a acknowledgement of guilt. How long after the issuance of an such an apology do you think it would take for the first lawsuit to be filed?

And when are American blacks going to say "thank you" to the hundreds of thousands of whites who lost their lives trying to end slavery? THAT was reparation.

I don't get how calling someone "thin skinned" is racial or anti-Semetic.
The French owe an apology to England due to the Norman Conquest. England in turn needs to apologize to Wales, Scotland, and Ireland for the subjugation of those countries. As for the Italians, they should demand reparations from the Germans for the barbarian conquest of the Roman Empire, but only after they apologize to Austria from their conquest of the Tyrol. The Germans need reparations for the loss of Alsace-Lorraine to France and Pomerania and Silesia to Poland. The Poles need an apology from Belarus and Ukraine for the loss of its eastern provinces.
