Group Wants Webb to Rebut Bush Before Joint Session

(CNSNews.com) - A left-wing activist group is calling on Democrats to let Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) rebut the president's State of the Union address before the full joint session of Congress to symbolize the Democrats' "reclamation of power." VelvetRevolution said the Democratic response to President Bush's address is usually "an embarrassing, limp, pro forma predictable 'hey, don't forget about us!' rejoinder which the TV networks begrudgingly carry which most viewers ignore." Now, the Democratic response "can truly carry the message - from a level playing field - of how the Democrats envision their plans bettering the state of our union," the group said in a press release. Webb "should deliver his address to that same jam-packed and receptive chamber as the president is granted, demonstrating that Democrats are running Congress as a co-equal branch of government, and laying out their vision for the country," it added. "In doing so, the Democrats will finally show what they stand for - and that they will no longer be cowed - instead of merely and meekly serving as bit players and extras in a grand show which George W. Bush no longer leads," the group said.

Did you hear Laura interview Arlen Specter???

Yes, and she harped about the Harriet Meir's BS

She just can't let it go ..

I also caught the conversation with Frank Lutz and the pushing of the libertarian line

Rush seems to be the type that leaves the decisions re: the war to the military...and I think, as long as he feels Pres. Bush is doing the same...he is on board with that.

One thing I like about Rush...that some others might disagree with is that he makes me laugh...and when he is sounding the most pompous is when I like him the best...because I know he is being facetious..and is NOT taking himself so serious.

Too many radio talk show hosts take themselves WAY too seriously....IMHO>

The beginning of Webb's speech? Heck, I know that and I don't have to go to his website to see it.

"I was born a poor, black child..."

It is times like those, during her show, that ruins it for me....she has let it be known forEVER that she hated Miers' nomination...let the woman retire in dignity, won't you, Laura??

I couldn't understand half of what Specter said...plus, he was just plain lying about the research findings about embryonic stem cell research..Laura did call him on it..but he got snippy.

Rush walks the fence .. and could do more

Usually I just listen to Hugh Hewitt and then the reair of Mark Levin after wards

Hugh will have criticism .. but his are constructive and balanced

He talks things out with his guest

OK .. I really need to head out now .. or I'll never leave *L*

I am close to that...I only listen sporadically.

I try to listen to Hugh Hewitt..because he has really good guests like Mark Steyn and Victor Davis Hanson on...

I pretty much don't even go on the talk show threads anymore...because I listen very little and can't follow along anyway.

But, also...with Congress in session, I have to pay more attention to what they are saying..

That's what I like about Rush too.  In fact, he ended his show in such a way that he said he was going to have 10 guests over for dinner tonight, I think Mr. Snerdley asked if they were going to be talking politics, Rush said, "NO!  We're not going to be talking politics!  We're going to be talking about me talking politics!", then he paused, and then said "see you tomorrow" and that was it.

He isn't hyperbolic..and seems to do a lot of "homework".

OT...I turned on CNN a little while ago..and they showed footage of an old Montel Williams show that was taped shortly after Shawn Hornbeck disappeared.

Shawn's mother and stepfather were in the audience..and Montel had some psychic on ...and she told them she could "see" Shawn's body, dead, lying between a couple of boulders.

The bad "psychic" job isn't what caught my attention so much as what the parents looked like.

OMG..I don't know if I would have recognized them if I wasn't told who they were. The mother had shoulder length hair, fixed really pretty, make up and looked about 20 years younger than she looks now... The stepfather was even more different. He had the same hair style and beard...but he looked fully 20 years younger IMHO.

It was amazing...what just 4 years has done to those poor people....jeez, I feel so sorry for them.

Rush is more in touch with the mainstream part of America than most radio hosts are. Hosts like Rush and Medved would rather tangle with leftwinged dinbats (they get bumped to the top of the call screen list) than those who actually agree with them. Medved especially.
