Most U.S. workers not in 'dream jobs,' survey says

More than four out of five U.S. workers do not have their dream jobs, which most people describe as work that is fun, according to a survey released on Thursday.

Salary was one of the least important requirements of a dream job, cited by just 12 percent of respondents in the survey by CareerBuilder.com, an online job site, and The Walt Disney Co , which is holding a contest in which winners can get a chance to work at a Disney theme park job for a day.

...Fields with the least number of workers with dream jobs were accommodations and food services at 9 percent, manufacturing at 9 percent and retail at 10 percent.

Among major U.S. cities, workers in Boston had the highest incidence of feeling they have their dream jobs, at 37 percent, followed by Sacramento at 26 percent, San Francisco at 23 percent, Philadelphia at 22 percent, Salt Lake City at 20 percent, and Dallas and Portland, both at 19 percent.

...Asked what they had wanted to be as adults when they were children, 22 percent of people surveyed said firefighter, 17 percent said princess and 16 percent said professional dancer. An equal number of people -- 14 percent -- wanted to be cowboy or president.

There are other things to work besides walking around like a grinning idiot. Fer instance, knowing that you're performing an important service, being of value to society, etc. etc.

I know I've mentioned this a couple of times, but I can't help thinking of the workfare guys in Times Square who pick up trash on the street. Their red jumpsuits are like lost tourist magnets. They actually enjoy helping lost tourists. Several of them carry subway maps to give out to lost tourists.

Horrible job, picking up trash all day -- but they perform a valuable service that's appreciated by those who work on the street and by tourists.

Clearly I only know one person who has a dream job and that is Tiger Woods, he plays golf for a living and is married to a Swedish bikini model. Reuters is full of it, 99.999999999999% of American's don't have a dream job.

I have my dream job!

I have always (according to my Mom and who will argue with your Mom) wanted to be a Librarian and not have to move out of town to do it.

And guess what! I got it!

My dream job would be a Freudian psychiatrist or a researcher at a sleep center. Oh, you meant a job I dreamt of, not a job involving dreams.

...Asked what they had wanted to be as adults when they were children,

Fighter pilot. I was crushed in fourth grade when I got glasses because I knew that meant no wild blue yonder for me.

FYI. Anybody who can explain this gets a free ping.""

My explanation:

Some FOOL got Paid by a BIGGER FOOL to conduct a "survey"
about how happy we are in our jobs.......

Further fools answered the "survey".

Sorta like asking the American Idol wannabees who got sent home how their day went.....

THIS IA AMERICA, PEOPLE......YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CHANGE JOBS IF YOU ARE SO UNHAPPY.!!!

DUH.

The upside is that nearly one in five IS in a dream job.

I am so deprived, because I have not met any of them, ever.

Oh, there WERE good times when I thought I had such a position, but within minutes reality intruded. I was probably working with volatile solvents at the time.

As compared to who? I mean, compared to workers in what other countries?

What a joke. What is a "dream job" anyway? Who couldn't imagine a better working situation for themselves - no matter what they're doing now?

One of the many lies of feminism is that men got to go out and have fulfilling and satisfying careers while women stayed at home and "missed out". Nonsense. Most men work at jobs that they don't particularly care for in order to provide for their families (the same families that feminism seeks to destroy).
