LEWISTON, Maine — U.S. prosecutors are not pursuing charges against a man who rolled a pig's head into a mosque.
Brent Matthews faces a state misdemeanor charge of desecration of a place of worship. State prosecutors also won a court order requiring him to stay away from the mosque.
Matthews, 33, has insisted the July 3 incident was intended as a joke. The pig's head rolled into the mosque as about 40 people were praying. Many Muslims consider pork and pork products unclean and offensive.
FBI agents and federal prosecutors looked into federal hate crime charges but ultimately decided to let the matter rest with state prosecutors.
"We're not going forward with our prosecution," Assistant U.S. Attorney General Halsey Frank said.

Hit the bullseye brother. For supposedly (in their minds) a superior religion, they really have an inferiority complex. I have said before that they will start demanding changes here in the US that will accomodate them. Changes which will be clear violations of our consitution.
I predict we will see this guy's obit before too long.

Actually it was the artist who "created" that worthless work of "art" that got the federal grant, and NOT because of that work, I don't believe. And rolling a pig's head in a mosque should actually be a dry-run, or "pilot" for a reality TV series centering on the Wacky World of Islam and how Westerners "react" to it. Or, turned inside out, is that effectively what

What is interesting from a "historical perspective" is that this is EXACTLY the kind of thing that Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies used to do during the 60s, for completely different ends. Were he alive today, he might well be doing this kind of thing. He was always way too radical and socially disruptive and nasty ever to be PC.
