Wrong. It's all aboout clinton. In the 80's China was often used to launch satelites because it was cheaper. But in 1989 Sen. algore wrote up legislation sanctioning against doing so due to the tiannamon square deal. Loral did it anyway in 1996. A major crash occurred. An investigation was ordered and the justice dept was about to prosecute (Loral gave the report to china which advanced their program immensely and is a criminal offense)However bj ordered ANOTHER launch!! He was advised NOT to do so. Ordered the transfer from State dept to Commerce at the request of Bernard Schwartz, prez of Loral, and #1 campaign donor to clinton/gore (at the tune of 1 million bucks).
Thanks to bill, china got all kinds of info that now--today--places them way up there in technology and can now shoot down OUR satellites.
Last week they shot down a weather satelite with a ballistic missile thanks to this advanced info.
It's all thanks to bill clinton!!

If you trust the GOP to safeguard key US industries from being replaced or sold to overseas, you have a lot to learn about trusting politicians and the major political parties. Remember the Dubai port deal and Chinese desire to buy Conoco Oil. If I recall, GWB supported the foregin buyers/Wall Street who broker the deals. Everybody after Bush 41 was trying to convert military to commercial usage (peace dividend) and globalism/free trade was starting to ramp up in our high tech sectors. The training of overseas low cost high tech alternatives started under the Clinton admin, that by the end of his 8 years and the beginning of GWB admin, the US was off shoring high tech jobs, and starting to import H-1B workers, just to illustrate that the selling off of America occurs under Dems and GOP. The issue with Loral was not national security but how to keep the US number one in the commercial satellite business. Remember the European Space Agency was competing with the US to help telecom companies launch satellites into space. Loral was trying to maintain the lead by using low cost Chinese rockets. Dole is a pro NAFTA type, and if Loral presents the case as necessary tech waiver to maintain US dominance in the satellite launch businesss/telecom the chances are very high that even Dole would relent. I have worked with the DoD Tech Export groups. You should see the types of letters of protest on out tech export limits from the very large corporations, claiming many of our limits are too strict, out of date and insinuate that the DoD is toooo dire and paranoid about our potential advesaries. Dole may not give in the first term, but Loral will be coming around with the donations for the second term, and I assure you a waiver would be granted in the second term.

I can't imagine that Dodd will become President. I do look forward to his departure from the Senate.

Children! Children! Listen up. Technology transfers to China began with Kissinger over-riding the government's decision to keep China from a milling machine that made ultra-precise ball bearings used for precision guidance. This is from memory, folks. Sorry. It was a long time ago. Teachery is bipartisan and all about the money.

Toshiba did something similar for submarine blades, as I recall.

Senator Dud, the co-bagman with Don Fowler that scooped up the illegal campaign funds for Slick Willie and his Bride! However, since Dud is a member of the Bob and Billie Club (formerly U.S. Senate), he got a pass and Fowler took the rap!

NEVER FORGET

Then DNC Chairman Sen. CHRIS DODD =

Receiver of $400,000 in Communist Vietnam Army Money that was personally picked up by then CLINTON Commerce Secretary RON BROWN

RON BROWN then personally smashed into a European hill just before he was scheduled to tell an investigating Congress and the American People about all this on National TV UNDER OATH.

For...

'It's the TV, Stupid, no matter WHO pays for it'

...has always been the CLINTONS lifetime M.O.

NEVER FORGET

We know that. There were sanctions laid down tho against China, and clinton ignored it for the cash.
Are you really suggesting that the fact Scwhartz donated millions to bj's campaign had NOTHING to do with bypassing the sanctions AND prosecution of Loral for turning over the report.
That report and subsequent launch doubled China's ability to lauch more advanced rockets which is what we are now facing today as a result.

I think the entire Clinton administration should be hanged for treason. I hope that suffices.

I am also disgusted with Congress for ignoring this in favor of a stained dress, for never acting on anything important to national security. Both parties. Yes, the Democrats are far worse. Worse than bad does not make bad good.

Chris Dodd was also one of the chief sponsors of "Tort Reform" legislation that led to the accounting scandals. Clinton actually vetoed that legislation; but Dodd led the effort to override the veto.
