PETA Kills Animals, Supports Terrorists

By Tom Barrett
Publisher@ConservativeTruth.org

According to public records (see LINK below), PETA kills 90% of the animals left at their "Adoption Centers"; only 6% get adopted. From 1998 to the end of 2005 the organization killed 14,400 pets and wild animals in the center at its Virginia headquarters alone. By the way, PETA stands for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals." It claims to be an "animal advocacy group."

The photo accompanying this article on our website is from the website of No Kill Now (see LINK below), a group of former PETA members who are appalled by PETA’s slaughter of tens of thousands of animals.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk told the Associated Press (AP) that actually taking care of animals costs more than killing them. She admitted that "We could become a no-kill shelter immediately." But PETA thinks No-Kill animal shelters are inhumane! Their own website (see LINK below) admits that they kill animals – 90% of the animals they took in last year, according to State records.

PETA is currently in the news because of a trial in which two North Carolina PETA employees are charged with killing 31 animals and dumping them in shopping center dumpsters, after promising owners that the pets would be adopted.

In a surprise defense motion last week in this trial, PETA asked the judge to "exclude evidence of other crimes" from the trial. When the judge asked the District Attorney for her thoughts on this legal maneuver, she replied, "The other crimes, the other things they're seeking to exclude, are prior dumpings of animals."

Is it likely that the DA has proof of other, massive, killings and dumpings of defenseless pets? Absolutely. PETA’s own reports to the State of Virginia (see LINK below) prove that they have "euthanized" (a pretty word for "killing for convenience") tens of thousands of pets.

On its websites, PETA refers to animals as "non-human animals." This phrase makes it clear that PETA considers humans to be animals. A study of their websites and public statements reinforces the fact that this is their belief. They make it clear that PETA considers the killing of an animal for food to be equivalent to the murder of a human. This makes the hypocrisy of the organization’s slaughter of pets all the more damning.

This slaughter of animals that were supposed to be adopted has been well documented. Dana Cheek, former director of the Norfolk, VA SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) states, "I often received phone calls from frantic people who have surrendered their pets to PETA with the understanding that PETA will 'find them a good home.' Many of them are led to believe that the animals will be taken to a nearby shelter. Little do they know that the pets are killed in the PETA van before they even pull away from the pet owner's home."

The Norfolk SPCA is located just 4 miles from PETA’s slaughter center. In 2005 the SPCA found adoptive homes for 78% of the animals placed there; the Virgina Beach shelter placed 66%. As stated above, PETA only placed 6%. You do the math.

Since PETA characterizes itself as an organization that cares about animals (and gets huge donations by doing so), you may question the veracity of our statements regarding their slaughter of animals. If so, please don’t take our word or the word of the dozens of websites that have documented PETA’s cruelty. Take the word of Ingrid Newkirk, the President of PETA:

"It is a totally rotten business, but sometimes the only kind option for some animals is to put them to sleep forever... It sounds lovely if you're naïve. We could become a no-kill shelter immediately. It means we wouldn't do as much work." - Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President, The Virginian-Pilot, August 1, 2000

Speaking of her former occupation as a dog catcher: "I would go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself. Because I couldn't stand to let them go through other workers abusing the animals. I must have killed thousands of them, sometimes dozens everyday." - Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President, The New Yorker, April 14, 2003

"We are not in the home finding business, although it is certainly true that we do find homes from time to time for the kind of animals people are looking for. Our service is to provide a peaceful and painless death to animals who no one wants." - Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President, The Virginian-Pilot, July 20, 2005

PETA often stages nude protests. They brag about this on their website (see LINK below). These have included stacks of live nude humans on courthouse steps; naked women holding protest signs in front of Burger King; and nude people packaged like steaks, complete with plastic wrap coverings and PETA labels that read "Flesh." If you don’t believe this goes on, a simple Internet search for "PETA Protestors" will give you hundreds of hits.

Why do I mention this? Because it illustrates the fact that PETA’s stands on every issue are diametrically opposed to those of responsible Americans. They terrorize little children, accosting them after school and giving them pamphlets that read, "Your Mommy kills animals!" PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands who are sent emails without parental permission or notification. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel, "Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be." They also targeted students with their "Got Beer" campaign, which promoted drinking beer instead of milk because of the "health issues" with dairy products.

PETA take millions of dollars in donations under false pretenses. Like Jesse Jackson, they extort donations and concessions from businesses by threatening to shut them down. And of course, PETA is most famous for throwing blood in the faces of women who wear fur coats.

PETA brags on its website (see LINK below) about its "victories" against businesses. They are particularly proud of their "campaigns" in which they characterize Burger King as "Murder King" and Wendy’s Restaurants as "Wicked Wendys." They are ecstatic that they persuaded the Chicago City Council to make selling foie gras (an appetizer sold in practically every French restaurant in the world) illegal in Chicago restaurants. And they are extremely smug about pressuring major retailers to stop selling products made with "cruelly obtained" Australian wool.

The group spends millions of tax-deductible dollars on programs that equate people who eat chicken with Nazis; that scare young children away from drinking milk; that recruit children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle; and programs that intimidate businessmen and their families.

PETA violently opposes medical research that could prevent birth defects and save lives because they claim that animals are equal to humans in importance. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has stated that, "Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it." She also told the New Yorker that the world would be a better place without people. She had herself sterilized because, "I am opposed to having children. Having a purebred human baby is like having a purebred dog; it's nothing but vanity, human vanity." This woman controls a budget of almost $30 Million tax-deductible dollars, and she is psychotic!

Bill Maher, PETA’s celebrity spokesman has said, "To those people who say, 'My father is alive because of animal experimentation,' I say 'Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live.' Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off." And the infamous Ingrid Kirkman is quoted in the Washington Post as saying, "Six million people died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses." Anyone who equates the death of a human being with the death of a chicken is sick indeed.

In Genesis 1:26 God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." That sure doesn’t sound like the Creator views animals as equal to humans. He doesn’t want us to be cruel to them, but He makes it clear in the Word that animals are here to serve humans, and to supply them with food and clothing.

The most serious indictment of PETA is its support of terrorists and its encouragement of members to engage in acts of terrorism. Alex Pacheco, PETA Director, says, "Arson, property destruction, burglary and theft are 'acceptable crimes' when used for the animal cause." At the Animal Rights 2001 Conference Bruce Friedrich, PETA Campaign Director, had this to say to the fanatical attendees:

"If we really believe that animals have the same right to be free from pain and suffering at our hands, then, of course, we're going to be blowing things up and smashing windows. For the record, I don't do this stuff, but I advocate it. I think it's a great way to bring about animal liberation, considering the level of suffering, the atrocities…I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories and the banks who fund them exploded tomorrow. I think it's perfectly appropriate for people to take bricks and toss them through windows. Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it."

Here are just a few of the nut cases who were "willing to do it" for PETA. PETA has given thousands of dollars to each of these terrorists: Dave Wilson, convicted of firebombing a fur cooperative; Josh Harper, who was convicted of assaulting police and firing on a fishing vessel; and Fran Trutt, convicted of attempted murder of a medical executive. According to federal tax records (see LINK below), PETA also gave $20,000 to Rodney Coronado, who was convicted of burning a research lab at Michigan State University.

Josh Harper, who received PETA financial support, is quoted in The Seattle Post-Intelligencer calling for violence toward (among others) the heads of our government. "Physically shut down financial centers. Using any means necessary, shut down the national networks of NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, etc. Not just occupations but actually engage in strategies and tactics which knock the networks off the air. Spread the battle to the... very heads of government and U.S. corporations. When you see the loss of 9 billion animal lives each year, it's inappropriate to hold a sign or pass out a petition. It's appropriate to go out and burn down the factory farm."

PETA has donated money to the Marxist North American Earth Liberation Front, an FBI-certified "domestic terrorist group" responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid over $70,000 to an Animal Liberation Front activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. The federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in the crime.

PETA may have started as an organization that cared about animals, but the radicals have since taken over. As Kirkman said in USA Today, "We are not here to gather members, to please, to placate, to make friends. We're here to hold the radical line."

Since the protection of animals is not what PETA is about, what IS PETA’s real agenda? PETA has become a Marxist organization that uses protection of animals as a ploy to obtain donations for their REAL agenda. In 2006 they got $29 million dollars from gullible citizens and foolish movie stars to promote their view of what a good country should be: Communist. Any American who studies their website (see LINK below) carefully will be disgusted by the Marxist rhetoric found there.

Like all good Communist organizations, PETA hates any kind of religion. One entire PETA website (see LINK below) is devoted to the demonstrably false claim that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. The site claims that the Gospels were edited to remove vegetarian teaching! PETA holds violent protests at churches and synagogues. They even sued one church that tried to protect its members from being harassed every Sunday morning. PETA billboards taunt Christians with the message that "Hogs died for your sins." And their "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign compared the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals.

PETA is a radical organization that advocates terrorism to meet its objectives. In the words of its president, Ingrid Newkirk, "total animal liberation." According to the PETA website, this means no meat, no milk, no fishing, no hunting, no zoos, no circuses and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). They also want to stop life-saving medical research that involves any animals, even rats. The only way they could accomplish their goals would be through total government control of the population. This has always been the objective of all Communist true believers.

Up in my neck of the woods, only PETA and no reputable Canadian animal advocacy and/or expert body endorses the concept (see "National Companion Animal Coalition" document attached to the preceding linked letter) behind Ontario's McGuinty Liberal government's callously opportunistic & even Humane Society opposed (!) so-called 'breed ban' law.

PETA propagandizes children.
PETA's website for kids puts a skull and crossbones next to the logo of Disney's Animal Kingdom and tells the horror story of a fast food restaurant employee who "had taken a patty into the potty with her, then returned and said she had peed on it." It hands out trading cards to kids that allege drinking milk will make them fat, pimply, flatulent, and phlegm-ridden. PETA also has a child-themed website, and a kiddie-oriented magazine, called GRRR! Kids Bite Back. The name is significant, as it is intended to prep children to identify with the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), which has long-used the phrase "bite back" in its promotional materials. In fact, as early as 1991, convicted ALF arsonist and PETA grantee Rodney Coronado was calling his own crime spree "Operation Bite Back." PETA also sends "humane education lecturer" Gary Yourofsky into high schools -- and even middle schools -- to promote the "animal liberation" agenda. Yourofsky is a convicted ALF criminal who has said he would support burning down medical research labs even if humans were trapped in the flames.

Gotta be their own notion of 'kinky sex', eh?
Suppose, 'each to their own' ... provided neither opted to be the 'submissive' partner of course ... & I guess it would be at least somewhere still within the general ballpark of heterosexuality.

I got on PETA's mailing list years ago, and signed up for its kid's campaign emails. NOT because I support them, but to see what they are up to.

Teachers have been using PETA material in schools for years.

Hopefully the spotlight on PETA will also shine on other so-called "reputable" animal rights (or those disguised as animal welfare) organizations.

A scientist’s perspective The Trojan horse of animal protectionism: The battle over curriculum

EXCERPT:

Deception

Other animal rights groups have elected a devious approach – a secret battle. They disguise their goals and methods by disavowing the methods of the militant animal rights movement. Instead of ‘animal rights,’ they call their curriculum ‘humane and environmental education.’ They avoid the term ‘animal rights’ but teach the same value system. Most educators are unaware of this deception. Teachers welcome humane education as a means to prevent violent behavior in some students and environmental curriculum as a means to develop a sensitivity to the environment. More than 20,000 teachers nationwide have bought into this program.

Have their school efforts been successful? Several different student polls have shown steady gains for the acceptance of the animal rights philosophy. The most alarming of these was a 1993 national Gallop poll which demonstrated that 60 percent of American teenagers “support animal rights,” including bans on all laboratory and medical tests that use animals. How have they been able to produce such a striking change in attitude?

HSUS

The Humane Society of the US with its 1.5 million members calls itself the nation’s largest animal protection organization. Few people know that the HSUS animal protection philosophy is not animal welfare but an animal rights philosophy that says it is morally wrong for humans to use or kill animals and that they have been guided by that philosophy since 1980.2

Furthermore, HSUS has set as its goal the abolition of animals in laboratory research and education.3,4,5 In recent years, HSUS elected to call themselves ‘animal protectionists’ to disassociate their group from the bad press that the Animal Liberation Front and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have brought to the animal rights movement. HSUS shares the same animal rights philosophy and goal of abolishing the use of animals in laboratory research as militant animal rights groups, but they differ in tactics and timetable for reaching that goal. Their tactic is to slowly but progressively wean society away from using animals.

In order to avoid the extremist label HSUS has deliberately sought to project a ‘moderate’ image and hide the animal rights message under animal protectionism and the guise of humane and environmental education. Many of the HSUS projects are laudable and could be described as animal welfare. They work very hard to keep that image. Corporate donations and the respect of the education community are dependant on that image. However, their hidden agenda is to get people to give animals the same respect they give humans. What better method to accomplish a change in societal values than by incorporating it into a nationwide elementary school curriculum on humane and environmental education?

NAHEE

Is HSUS a Trojan Horse being covertly carried into the citadel of elementary education?6

HSUS has endeavored to establish itself as The Authority in humane and environmental education. Indeed, the organization has won several awards for KIND News; has had the Adopt-a-Teacher program placed in the 1992 Environmental Success Index; and had a field representatives appointed to the prestigious National Environmental Education Advisory Council of the Environmental Protection Agency.

To help establish this reputation, HSUS created the National Association for Humane and Environmental Education, a separate youth education division. NAHEE had a 1992 budget of $940,000 and 14 full-time staff , an increase of 31 percent over the 1991 budget. The goals for NAHEE were articulated in the 1992 HSUS annual report: “ ... NAHEE strives to ensure that humane attitudes become a viable part of mainstream education and environmental perspectives. ... NAHEE continues to monitor and evaluate new children’s books, children’s magazines, and newspapers as well as all major elementary and secondary teaching magazines and newspapers to encourage the promotion of humane values in publications other than our own.”7

Indeed, NAHEE has been successful in influencing other publications as evidenced by a series of three grossly misleading articles biased against using animals in medical research which appeared in the nine-million circulation Weekly Reader and its companion for middle schools Current Science.6 NAHEE’s influence even extends beyond the USA as they have sent their educational materials to 13 foreign countries.

It is clear that HSUS has been acknowledged as The Authority and is being warmly welcomed through the educational gates of Troy by unsuspecting teachers and administrators who thought they weregetting ‘humane and environmental education’ but ended up with those elements mixed with a subtle animal rights message that says it is wrong for humans to kill, capture, or use animals for any reason. It is a message that elevates respect for animals to the same plane as respect for humans. This is a brilliant tactic as respect and consideration for animals is a hallmark of animal welfare. HSUS has reduced the difference between animal rights and animal welfare to the degree of respect and consideration given animals, thus blurring the difference between the two.

KIND News, KIND Teacher

NAHEE’s primary effort is directed at publishing and distributing a classroom newspaper covering laudable humane and environmental themes laced with a heavy dose of respect for animals, endangered species, and an emphasis on not harming animals.

Kids In Nature’s Defense (KIND News) is published at three reading levels for children in grades one through six and is read by more than 600,000 children in 20,000 classrooms nationwide. KIND News does not cover controversial animal rights issues. However, the accompanying teachers’ guide (KIND Teacher) brings up animal rights issues without identifying them as such. KIND Teacher indoctrinates children by having the teacher lead discussions on the use of animals in dissection, the use of wild animals in laboratory research, the use of animals in product safety testing, the keeping of wild animals in zoos and circuses, the capture and sale of wild birds, hunting, trapping, and rodeos.8 KIND Teacher also promotes the students to form KIND Clubs and engage in club projects. The nature of the project and the agenda is determined by the club and club president. Given the HSUS emotional and strongly–held position on these issues, can we expect a balanced presentation?

HSUS Student Action Guide

The HSUS Student Action Guide, NAHEE’s newspaper for middle and secondary students, is more direct as it openly seeks to promote activism by forming Earth-Animal Protection Clubs. These clubs target a number of animal rights issues, including laboratory animal research, product safety testing, dissection, animals in science fairs, zoos, animals in entertainment, hunting, trapping, and dolphin-safe tuna. The students are referred to HSUS to obtain specific misleading materials on these issues as well as animal research and so-called alternatives to animal research.

"That is a funny graphic! "

Thanks - "done up fresh for you this morning"

Actually I e-stole the peeing dog part & it would be easy to change the slogan and/or remove the Ontario Liberals' logo altogether or substitute one that's Stateside pertinent.

Although PETA's obviously the best example, of late it seems the public's really beginning to turn on - especially openly money-grubbing - radical special interest groups including neo-prohibitionist MADD & the ever despicable 'Child Find'.

BTW, here's an ol' crowd pleaser:
