The Democrats tax everything that breathes and dies. Washington State has no state income tax. Apparently the existing revenue is insufficient for the needs of the state's government.

It has no chance of passage unless the Democrats give up one of the other two main revenue streams: the sales and property tax. Which they will not do.

Don't forget the eternally unfair B&O tax.

As liberal as Washingtonians are, they do not trust the state government at all.
This is true, but its urban Seattle core often sets the direction of the entire state. However to push an income tax the libs will have to go up against the well-funded tech base, who votes Republican even though the libs like to pretend that the tech sector is the natural result of liberal rule.
