Border Patrol Agent Case
C-SPAN, Washington Journal
Dave Montgomery, Bureau Chief, [Fort Worth Star Telegram], Washington
Dave Montgomery talks about the arrest and sentencing of former Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. The two agents were arrested after the non-lethal shooting of a drug smuggling suspect in February 2005. In January 2007 the agents were convicted of various charges, including violating the smuggler's civil rights and tampering with evidence. The agents received sentences of 11 and 12 years respectivly. However, anti-immigrants groups and members of Congress have spoken against the arrest and jailing of both men.
Sorry, I wasn't even looking at the TV screen when I posted Pedro as the host. It's Rob (something).
Morning crew ping.
Thanks!
WJ is shortened this morning so C-SPAN can cover Tavis Smiley and the annual ritual of "The State of the Black Union." And TSofBU will be interruped at 1100 for Obama's announcment. There was some dunderhead black gal on The Colbert Report Thursday night who said Obama is not Black. She sounded like a real fool.
On now bump
Yes,I am passing the buck. My husband is watching "Interview With A Vampire".
I'm watching, so far sounds like this reporter, drawl and all, is reciting the facts without spin.
I'll bet he drives a pick-up truck in DC . . . or rides a horse.
"Does this program allow calls?"
That's their trademark.
Listening...thanks.
Sorry. I haven't watched C-SPAN in years, absolutely years.
This is one of those issues (red hot on FR) I've avoided. I've gotten the outline that I didn't have before. Fifteen minutes to go. One ole boy says our Border Agents should just be able to shoot 'em if they come across the border. Made ole Dave squirm.
Even CSPAN is on this?
Bush better get his head in the sunshine and buy a clue. This is not going away. He needs to find a way to deal with it. Lesser events have brought down greater men.
bttt!
thanks for the heads up.
I've avoided it only insofar as I haven't gotten into discussion about it, but have tried to pay attention to the facts.
It does smack of an upside down situation as the reporter said.
This reporter doesn't know any more than the average Freeper. I guess they couldn't find a real guest.
Glad to see C-Span covering this and that viewers are supporting the border agents. Dave is quite laid-back. I've been watching Lou Dobbs report on this case with PASSION and outrage.
He's deliberately avoiding giving his opinion. I like that in a reporter.
Although, a fellow just now called in and stumped him on some stuff.
The callers are EXTREMELY well-informed on details of the trial. Impressive callers...
