Suslick, Putterman and Taleyarkhan had received funding from the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for a project to test Taleyarkhan's original claims.

Purdue has no incentive to find fault with Taleyarkhan, so long as the DARPA money keeps flowing. Someone else needs to investigate this.

Cold fusion replay?

Thank you Purdue, for continuing the proof that taxpayer money results in very little scientific advancement.

I lived near the Hanford Nuclear Site for almost 30 years and was disgusted by similar results. Billions of dollars spent by government and very little improvement. Purdue is just par for the course.

Couple of theories:

1. Purdue (as posted earlier) is more concerned about it's reputation and went through the facade of an investigation which they can point to later if Taleyarkhan's "discovery" is debunked.

2. Rusi Taleyarkhan really did find something interesting and DARPA / Purdue want to keep it "close hold" so everything else is slight-of-hand or red herring. Why? Who knows? Maybe to throw other interested parties off track.

I'm not into conspiracy theories.
