About 1980 I was fishing in Western Wyoming. It was very quite. My little voice told me something was about to happen so I reeled my line and went over to a tree where my rifle was. I started to hear this low rumble and feel a shaking in my gut. It got louder and I thought it was a very large earthquake, about that time a B-52 went over the top of me literally at 100 feet. I could see the rivet heads. Right behind him was an F-15 with the burners going. The F-15 popped up in vertical climb topped out at about 5,000 feet rolled over and dove on the BUFF. At that point I lost sight of them because they went over a hill. Didn't think a BUFF would bank at that speed that close to the ground. I about messed my pants also. Later, in some little town I stopped to have a beer and asked the bartender what was going on. He said they BUFFs were a regular fixture in that area and they did that all the time.

Would love to see a Bone do the same thing. I am jealous of your experience.

Saw alot of cool stuff at Edwards.
We had a stealth fighter crash before the stealth fighter existed. They only flew at night. We were told they were A-7s. They cleaned up all the wreckage or so they thought. A week later, a boy scout troop came up to one of the gates with a big chunk of chard honeycomb wing.

One of the coolest was a SR-71 taking off at night. The flame out of the engine was amazing.

Several years ago my wife and I were on one of Nevada's back roads going from Battle Mountain down to highway 50 and as we topped a ridge, a flight of A-6's overflew us at what we thought was low enough to rip off the air conditioners on the roof. We stopped and watched as they used us as a target for several minutes...we waved and just laughed it was so great.
Couldn't hear each other for an hour...one of the most memorable things that ever happened to us.

about that time a B-52 went over the top of me literally at 100 feet.

I built the Cellular One system in 18 counties of east Kentucky back in the mid '90's. They chose to locate their switch on a mountain near Pikeville, KY, and had a colocated cell on an FM tower there. About once a week B-52's would fly by below the mountaintop, usually 4 at a time. They were so close I could see the cockpit curtains were closed. I reckon they were practicing nap of the earth flying.....
