This is discriminatory. Why isn't there a TAKS test in Vietnamese?
In my district there is a school for Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese-speaking students. From what I understand, they are usually fluent or very near it by the time they've spent a few years there. They also do a lot higher on most of the tests that many other elementary schools in the district.
Of course, their parents are closely involved in their education, and don't need the federal government telling them how to raise their kids.
Surely the whole parents being involved couldn't make a difference could it? Nah...we don't need the parents involved, we have the government.

These 'educators' should be locked up for child abuse.
While these morons feel all happy and thrilled with their language accomplishments, an entire generation of wannabe Americans will never bother to learn english.
They have absolutely no reason to. None. They're being taught that spanish is acceptable, will be tolerated, and will be the only language they will ever need.

Whaaaa, I demand mine to be in Latin! The true Latin!
This is beyond disgusting. I'm so sick and tired of illegals gobbling up my tax dollars. They're taking food out of my own born AMERICAN children's mouths. You think that's just me blathering, but it's literally the honest truth. My own children are being deprived because of our high taxes. I had to raid the kids' birthday savings account just to pay the property taxes this year thanks to Perry's "lower taxes" joke.

Sad to say, the illegal kids at our school are the slackers. They're rude to teachers and many can't seem to get along with their classmates. Give them free time and the girls can't wait to turn on their music and start that hoochie mama dancing. They have no pride or self respect. It all goes back to their parents and how they're raised. Just because the parents "claim" they don't speak English, doesn't mean their kids aren't fluent so should take the English version TAKS the same as everyone else. There's not one illegal in our school who isn't fluent in English, yet we spend $$$ to have several ESL classes. You're right, they'll fail just as badly on the Spanish version as they have on the English.

I know. When the parents lost control of their schools, it all went to hell.

I don't think parents lost control of their schools, I think they gave it up.
Why do I say that? Not a day goes by that I don't see a parent letting their kid get away with all kinds of stupid crap, whether it's the kid throwing a tantrum and the parent buying them something to get them to shut up, or parents using the TV to babysit their kids.
The Republicans in the Federal Government were very happy to step in and take charge. Still amazes me that they take our tax dollars and then tell us if we don't jump through hoops, they won't give it back.

You have a point but here in Cal. the state took control of all the schools through the courts demanding every district have the same amount of money to spend per child.
There is little local control in the schools now. Including disciplining bad students properly.
