Gore's Film an Oscar Favorite but Violates Academy Standards, Critics Say ..("faked scenes")
CNSNews ^ | February 22, 2007 | Kevin Mooney

Al Gore's movie on climate change is likely to win an Oscar for best documentary on Sunday even though it arguably violates the Academy's own criteria and should be disqualified, critics say.

But, they argue, the way in which the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has handled the issue in the past shows a clear political bias.

Documentaries that distort reality and shade the truth are insulated from criticism so long as they advance left-wing causes like global warming and gun control, said independent filmmaker Dan Gifford, a former Oscar nominee and Emmy Award winner.

According to the "rule 12" standard for documentary films established by the Academy, while it is permissible to employ storytelling devices such as re-enactments, stock footage, stills and animations, the emphasis must be on fact and not fiction.

The critics argue that in the case of "An Inconvenient Truth," the criteria are not met.

One point of contention in Gore's movie is animated footage of a polar bear struggling to find stable sea ice. Gore has argued that human-induced global warming is directly impacting polar bears' habitat and sea ice in particular. Consequently, he suggests, polar bears are forced to swim longer distances and sometimes drown in the process.

"A new scientific study shows that for the first time they're finding polar bears that have actually drowned swimming long distances - up to sixty miles - to find the ice," Gore says in the movie.

John Berlau, author of a new book on the environmental movement entitled "Eco-Freaks," claims the polar bear scene alone should disqualify Gore's film from consideration for best documentary, because it departs from reality.

A recent report on drought conditions in the SW shows that over the past 1,000 years, natural drought was a lot worse than it is now. Yet, we are supposed to tie our futures to lifestyle changes that will have little if any affect on the global climate. Click on the link and scroll to page 20 to see the telling graphic.

Forget the Oscars and their awards to PC films that the general public never watch. I'm going to tune in for the rerun of last weeks "Half Hour News Hour" on Fox. Even the critics are saying it was funny (except for the all too obvious laugh track).

We were out to dinner over the weekend and one couple at the table were Dems, and teachers of course.

They don't believe in global warming, and said their daughter in law had them watch Gore's film the other night. The woman told us, that after it was over she told her DIL that Gore should rename the movie, "This is Al Gore, and I am in love with myself".

She said she felt the whole thing was a Gore is wonderful commercial.

This coming from a couple who let us all know they also hate Bush!

So maybe all of the left isn't buying this pig, Al is selling

The only substantive difference between the Al Gore movie and the films of Leni Riefenstahl is that Riefenstahl was a talented artist...

The entire Global warming scam departs from reality. It's nothing but a disguise for global socialism, global governance, and implementation of a new world earth religion Mother Earth "Gaia" Worship.

The Kyoto Connection to Earth Worship

Teaching God's children to worship "Divine Nature"

All those Oscar, globe awards and other nonsense is just Hollywierdo self-worship and promotion of socialist idealism.

Look what a joke the last shin-dig was. The Ditzy chicks, because of their anti-Americanism, were worshipped even though their tour was a failure, their new album was a failure, and they are failures.(and fat Nat gained another 25 lbs)

Then commie media talked about it for a week straight.
I would have puked if I turned on the TV and saw that.
Ditzy chicks, and Anna Nicole, all day, every day, day and night, with Rosie O'dummie leading off with "Rosie's view from the far left" every morning, then ET,EW, and all those other Entertainment hourly shows.
Constant bombardment of Hollywierdo self worship and to top it all off, Al Gore worship too.

Society has really deteriorated if that is all that interests them, following the morbidly immoral lives of seriously twisted people.

From further in the article:

"We were in a place politically and culturally in the 1990s where you were labeled as a right-wing nut to even suggest the government's official story was untrue," Gifford said.

"The same ones now saying you can't trust your government and you can't trust what they're saying about Iraq are ones who said it was disloyal and unpatriotic to say you can't trust your government back in the 1990s," he added.

Gifford said the Waco documentary withstood the criticism because actual footage was used and compelling evidence introduced.

What studies have documented drowning polar bears and if they are they are to be found at all are they in peer reviewed journals? Just because Gore says its true doesn't make it so. The very fact that Gore uses an animation to make his case of drowning polar bears is suspect. He could have at least had the guys at Reuters gin up some phony photos of drowned polar bears being fished out of the water by the "green helmet" guy from Lebanon.

Micheal Moore's "documentary" was full of fake scenes and lies. Since when did that matter?

They didn't hold Michael Moore to that standard, why would they make Al Gore toe the line?

Maybe because (for now at least) Gore can still see his toes?

Ooops, my bad. You're right.
