I mean, you're different right? Christians believe in love, compassion, and forgiveness, right? They don't believe in judging people, right? Its the biggest load I've heard since, well, maybe Hitlary's last speech.
The difference between Christianity and Islam is that all societies that are based on Judeo-Christian values represent the Christian values you mention. Some individual Christians don't, but Christianity as a whole does. Now compare that to Islam.

Islam is based on the same Judaic-Christian foundation. They have the same Moses, the same archangels, and a whole list of familiar characters. They are simply less tolerant of what they see as sin. An extreme position that makes our own extreme positions look timid, indeed. The difference I see is of degree, rather than type.
