GALLUP: Is Al Gore Boom for President Just Hype?

NEW YORK Former Vice President Al Gore is enjoying a boom in the wake of his Oscar win earlier this week for "An Inconvenient Truth." You'd think that the "Draft Al for President" movement was pretty strong or wide. But is it?

A new Gallup poll released today finds that, actually, relatively few Democrats think he could win the White House next year.

The survey found that 74% thought Sen. Hillary Clinton would have a good or excellent chance to win, with 71% feeling the same way about Sen. Barack Obama. A still healthy 52% gave former Sen. John Edwards this kind of chance. But only 31% gave good or excellent odds on Gore.

Sixty-eight percent give Gore a "slim" or "no" chance to beat a Republican next year.

Even among Democrats only, Gore was seen by only 44% as having a good or excellent shot. This contrasts with 90% feeling that way about Clinton.

The poll of 1,018 adults was taken Feb. 22-25.

The way Albore is these days, he might have a 'Dean Scream' moment somewhere along the campaign trail.

Is this from Scrappleface or the Onion? Al Gore for president? Of what? The Al Gore Fan Club? Every time I think of 9/11 I thank Heaven that we elected President Bush instead of this strange, troubled, fatally flawed individual.

The number of views and replies to similar threads posted almost back to back are interesting, IMHO.

If he was elected instead of Bush (or more realistically, if Gore was allowed to cheat his way into the WH by having those overseas ballots disqualified, having non-punched chads count for him, and overturning Floridas no vote for felons law like he all tried to do) we`d "still be looking for those responsible" for 9/11 (and other annual terror attacks), while he went on fundraiser after fundraiser after fundraiser and focused more on his fantasy of global warming so liberals could throw him awards and call him the "greatest President ever".

The DNC is hiding their candidate pretty well.

They have knocked Hillary out of any serious contention by pushing Obama in front and letting her make a number of serious stumbles. Gore is a complete doofus, a clown. Kerry is a looser. Edwards is just noise. None of the others running have a prayer, so whoever they have chosen, is hiding in plain sight and just biding time.

Obama is a cipher at this point and an attention getter. VP, maybe...not president.
