I think Ann Coulter's comment on Edwards was tasteless and inappropriate. John Edwards is not homosexual; Ann was just insulting him, and employing an epithet to do it.
That doesn't mean I want her "driven" from conservatism. I'm not going to stop reading her columns every week or burn any of the four books authored by her that I own. When I re-read my favorite passages of those books, I'm not going to enjoy them any less because Ann called Edwards a mean word.
Do you know what I think? I think Ann Coulter is one of the best voices of conservatism. I think she's incisive, witty and gutsy. I think she's brilliant. I also think she shouldn't have called John Edwards a derogatory and untruthful term like that. The views of this don't have to be extreme.
Get a sense of humor. Ann was clearly only using the Breck Girl as a prop for a joke about getting sent to rehab for using the word.... uh....I mean.... the 'f' word.

Looks like we're in the minority on this one, but I agree with you.
Thanks for doing it for me.
Whether I agree or disagree with your comments is not as important as the fact that all opinion is to be celebrated, and the fact you had the guts to say what you feel flying in obvious face to thread consensus makes me happy.
You are what makes FR so special.
Best.

I agree. I also think faggots are inappropriate as well.
What in the world makes you think it's untruthful that John Edwards is a faggot? I'm pretty sure he's gay (aka a faggot), though I can't prove it. He looks like one, acts like one, talks like one... if he did these impressions as a duck, we'd just call him a duck.
Most liberals don't.
A reasoned, temperate argument with which I disagree.I think it's easy to head for the tall grass when Ann says what most only think - or think, only when Ann has pointed it out. Like the fact that Joe McCarthy was a hero who actully understated the facts he rightly suspected. IMHO the "frontrunners" who distanced themselves from Ann will ultimately regret it. I'll be quite surprised if Newt does the same thing.
I only have two of her books, one of them signed.
I "ditto" your post.
We are all in a street fight for the life of the nation, and you come up with "tasteless and inappropriate" as a complaint about her speech. No, you can't possibly be Irish.
>>I think Ann Coulter's comment on Edwards was tasteless and inappropriate.<<
I agree. But it seems that defending this is of paramount importance. I have even read that if you criticize Ann for this, you are not a conservative.
If that's the definition of conservatism, count me out. (And it isn't).
