Howie Carr live thread
Howie Carr live thread. By the way I got the following from
WRKO. Note that HOWIE IS NOT MENTIONED though his name pops up in a following piece about a broadcast tomorrow from the Harp. Thanks Jason...

A Letter from The Program Director of WRKO:
Dear WRKO Listeners:
As you know, last May, WRKO entered into a 10 year agreement to broadcast Boston Red
Sox Baseball. We are extremely excited about this new partnership and are very confident that the Red Sox will play a major role in our plan to take this station to the next level.
Our contract calls for us to air 15 spring training games from Florida, in addition to the full 162 game regular season schedule. A handful of the those 15 spring broadcasts begin at 1p on weekdays and as such have caused us to pre-empt the Rush Limbaugh show. I apologize to those of you who are Rush fans, be assured that this only affects us on eight days in March. The decision to air spring training games on WRKO was necessary in order to properly establish that WRKO is the new flagship station for the Red Sox.
Once we get to the regular season, all weekday afternoon games (with the exception of the two openers) will air on our sister station WEEI, and Rush will air, in his entirety, on WRKO.
Thank you for understanding and support for WRKO. I greatly appreciate it.

WRKO Boston may be running Red Sox game today at 1 pm (and

carry the game, not sure.

I am really starting to loathe these 2 idiots, Kahn and Wolfe! 3 days this week interrupting Rush!! Makes my blood boil, there are probably 2 people listening to theses games and I imagine one of them must be in a coma.
NOW we can criticize him! But this takes the cake--yeah, it's nice that WEEI will have the weekday afternoon games (except for the "openers") in the reg. season, but to fail to mention Howie in his apology? As I mentioned on the WRKO board, Howie is to WRKO what Big Papi is to the Sox. Their franchise player and heavy hitter...
Consider btw that Rush can still be heard on WPRO 630
Providence, WTAG 580 Worcester, and WGIR 610 Manchester...
but in the case of Howie, you're out of luck because Howie's affiliate in Worcester also carries the Sox (WCRN 830) and he has no stations in Prov. or Manchester to fall back on. You do have online but imagine my disgust on Monday when I found
that WRKO's stream had Fox Sports instead, and WCRN's
(hoping they might have him) wasn't working!
Thankfully WNTK's stream did work. And yeah, I'm on the North Shore of Boston so if I try I can pick up Howie on WGAN
560 out of Po'tland, ayuh...
You got an answer and I didn't! Isn't that discrimination or something? ;-)
I did tell them I could get Rush on AM 630, but couldn't get Howie anywhere. And I'm not a sports fan of any kind, so I couldn't soften my language that way!
Inquiring minds want to know!!!
When I tuned in and heard another Red Sox game I nearly lost it. Let's just say I can't stand the Sox being a former NYer. Fortunately, I've discovered 630 from Providence and it's a pretty good signal.
That's the point I'm making--in the case of Rush, his fans
can tune in to WPRO to hear him if need be BUT that's not the case with Howie who is not on in Prov, etc (I think Howie had been on WPRO and also either AM 550 or 920 WHJJ in the past but it's been awhile since he's had a Prov station).
>>I can't listen on my old and tired computer, and I can't buy a new one (and broadband) right now.
But WRKO wants you to hear the Sox! Keep in mind Wolfie said that other than 2 times during the reg season, the games
will be on WEEI instead.
>>You got an answer and I didn't!
Actually it wasn't a personal answer to me. It was a "WRKO
Insiders" chain email...
oh swell: 3:08 pm and the Red Sox are on WRKO streaming too!
Trying WNTK
I think the reason they apologize for the Red Sox usurping Rush, but don't apologize for Howie, is that they advertise that Howie is on "after the game". All of Rush is cancelled, but we still get some of Carr's show. I don't say I agree, but after listening to their promo during the station break at 3 PM today, that seems to be WRKO's reasoning.
Big Digger
WNTK coming in. Overmodulated but coming in. May tape this hour and podcast it.
Oh well, I'll take what I can get!
will post the podcast a little later (may pause it when ads come on)... checking WRKO I find that it's tied 2-2 going to the last of the 9th. On some of these spring training games
they'll play a 10th inning then just call it a tie if still
tied...
will post the podcast in about half an hour.
"We're blacked out in Boston, Worcester, and Cape Cod for now...and we're happy to have those of us who ARE with us..."
"I don't miss pay phones either. Come to think of it I don't miss dachsunds either, if they go away. What is it that you see less of...?"
