Did anyone find Daisy offensive?
To: mainepatsfan
So anything that involves the South is now offensive? This is crazy...

Headline should be "Scientists blame idiots who believe what Hollywierd tells them."

It seems to me that, if anyone should be offended at "Dukes" it would be white southerners who were stereotyped as dumb hillbillies and petty crooks.
To: nonliberal
Damn. Cut and pasted the wrong thing.

You can have Daisy. Everytime I see the General Lee I have fond memories of my high school boyfriend who drove a Charger.

I find her shorts extremely offensive and they should be removed immediately

Schneider says the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra canceled a planned "Dukes"-themed appearance...LOL...what the he!! is that? An orchestra playing the music while Waylon (or whoever) sings? Maybe they used the PC angle as an excuse to get rid of something so painful. This guy needs to get a job!

Keith Lockhart contacts NAACP to get a green light for a pops program??? Of course we know what their reaction is going to be: they think all Southern folk are racist pigs. This is a disgrace! Orchestras now need to grovel to radical groups for their programming. That is not only disgraceful self-censorship, but fascist.
I have been reading about Arturo Toscanini during WWII. He refused to let his music become the servant of tyrants and tyranny. When the fascists grew to power in Germany, he withdrew from Beyrouth in protest. When Austria was forced into the Third Reich, he would not conduct in Salzburg. When the fascists took over Italy, he would no longer conduct at La Scala. And when the night of fascism took over most of central Europe, he brought his democratic faith of freedom to America.
Today we have a new fascism: political correctness. This is not sensitivity, but slavery! Those that bow at the alter of political correctness should be ashamed. This new fascism MUST be fought against!
I am disgusted.

Im sorry, but a correction: Erich Kunzel asked NAACP for permission.
I apologize to Keith Lockhart.

Just as I have always suspected. Eric Kunzel is a weakling. Shame on him.

Lockhart would probably do the same.
No need to apologize, Maestro.

some people just need to get a life.I agree.
After all, they're just good ol' boys, never meanin' no harm.
It beats all you ever saw.

And Cooter still is one.
(a bit of trivia: he was born in the county I grew up in)
To: MaestroLC
You might have a point. More orchestras are bowing at the alter of political correctness, trying to be 'sensative.' They prefer slavery to freedom. I am just one musician, but I will not bend over to these fascists. Freedom still means something to me, and I want to fight for it!

The show was horrible
I agree. It took tacky to a whole new level.
But Daisy was nice, though.
