SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger made nice with Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday, calling in to his radio program a day after dismissing the conservative host as "irrelevant." Limbaugh, who a day earlier had accused the governor of abandoning the conservative cause, treated Schwarzenegger cordially. But he pressed him on recent political moves that have angered conservatives, such as his $12 billion universal health care proposal.
The two had a back-and-forth discussion over extending health care to illegal immigrants and whether the money to pay for the governor's health plan amounted to new taxes or fees.
Limbaugh said the compromises Schwarzenegger said were necessary "to get things done" were a capitulation to liberals.
"We are still compromising our ideology," Limbaugh said. "They are not. And this is what people are upset about."
But Limbaugh sounded pleased when Schwarzenegger eased out of the interview, saying he wanted to smoke more cigars with him.
"You and I, we're going to have a good time again in our next smoke out," Schwarzenegger said. "We'll smoke a stogie together, and we will talk about this from here to eternity. The key thing is that people should know that you and I, we don't have a fight."
Schwarzenegger embraced a more centrist agenda after voters rebuked his attempt in 2005 to limit the power of public employee unions. His recent policy moves, to curb the greenhouse gases associated with global warming, raise the minimum wage and extend health care to all Californians, have angered many conservatives, including Limbaugh.

Nothing on global warming BS.
Dang. I wanted Rush to hit Arnold up with some of his good stuff on that.
Dang
I don't agree with many of the approaches, but in the end I have to agree with Arnold's statement that the problems need to be solved, not spend years and years posturing.
Arnold is an asshat and Rush is right to come down on him. Arnold is a democrat wearing an R after his name, same as the other rinos that are in office in the state and fed government. The sooner Arnold is out of office the better I will like it, except we will probably get another rino to replace him. BTW, Rush would make a superior governor, he would wipe the floor with Ahhhhnold.
At least, Arnold had the courage to run for Governor, and Rush just keeps safe and sound in his radio studio.
I agree that things need to get done. The issue of Ahnulds stand on global warming and greenhouse gasses was barely, if at all, brought up. His stand on this is, to me anyway, the straw that has broken the proverbial camels back. He has become, to me anyway, the quintessential pragmatic politician. I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth.
If it took courage to run for public office, then Kerry, the Clintons, etc. ,wouldnt be in public office in the first place.
Patton never ran for office.
and Rush just keeps safe and sound in his radio studio
So once did a liberal radio host named Alan Berg.
he won't get it.
It is best to have a republican governor there, but how to turn that state conservative? Beats me and I guess beats Arnold.
Wrong!
It takes no "courage" today to run for political office, as all you need is name recognition and the support of the MSM.
Rush reaches MORE audience than Ahnold, and the audience he relates to have principles, traditional values, and an aversion to pandering for votes.
Rush will stay in a position that is individual in nature, and not be beholdin' to those who fund elected office holders.
The thing is, Rush's audience is not the sheep that watch the MSM. It doesn't really matter "who won" - the discerning conservatives that listen to Rush will sort out who's right and who's wrong.
that was exactly Arnold's point, that the cost of uninsured using ER's is unbearable and they are using the Er the way you would use a $50 doctor visit. Arnold also explained FEDERAL law FORCES the ER's to treat them.
So Arnold's point was huge money will be saved by getting them insured and having them use a $50 office visit instead of a $1,000 ER visit. Use of the Er by uninsured is breaking the system. So I understood what Arnold is saying.
Arnold did a good job of blaming the feds. They don't fix illegal immigration, then they force the state to provide services.
......Arnie hopes to bask in rush's reflective glory.
.....
The man is a Hollywood actor that has advisors who know how to milk any publicity opportunity for maximum effect.
The Aahnald/Rush show was a tremendous win win for both. What was said or intended will never be agreed on by all but doesn't matter. All that matters is that it happened.

So conservatives should just go with the flow, then. Which is what Ahnuld is doing.
